NBA Picks and Predictions based on NBA Odds Shopping | Jazz vs. Nuggets | Sept. 1

Jazz – Nuggets Game Info

Utah Jazz (44-28) vs. Denver Nuggets (46-27)
Date: Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020
Time: 8:30 p.m. ET
Venue: ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex – Kissimmee, FL
Coverage: ABC

The guard play in this series has been out of control. Donovan Mitchell has put up an average of 38.7 points on 54.5% shooting from the field and 55.9% shooting from deep. Yet, he has been overshadowed by Jamal Murray, who has averaged 47.3 points and 7.3 made 3’s over the past three games. Let’s hope this young guard battle becomes a rivalry for years to come.

As you can expect, Murray was a big reason for the Nuggets forcing a Game 7. However, the full team played well. They shot 54.9% from the field, 88.5% on their free throws and buried 18 3-pointers.

The Jazz had a solid game as well, turning the ball over just 10 times. They simply were less efficient in their shooting, finishing with 45.3% shooting overall. At some point, you have to wonder if Utah’s tight rotation is causing their players to burn out. Just seven players saw double-digit minutes, with three players over 38 minutes played. For perspective, Denver played nine players in the double digits for minutes, with just one guy over 38 minutes, which was Murray.

With very little defense and a lot of offense, this game comes down to how efficient these players are shooting, as general and dumb as it sounds. Murray and Mitchell took a combined 49 shots last game. It seems as though they will get theirs. The secondary scoring option for each team will make the difference. For Denver, it’s clearly Nikola Jokic. Utah is a bit more of a question mark, but one of Mike Conley, Rudy Gobert or Jordan Clarkson needs to have a big game for the Jazz to win.

Jazz vs. Nuggets NBA Picks + Prop Bets

Utah Jazz vs. Denver Nuggets: Over 217 (-110)

Like I said last time, I am going to continue hitting the over on this series until it makes sense not to. Five of the six games in this series has hit the over. Despite Utah struggling to score at times last game, the over still hit. On top of that, the point total dropped for today. I’m not going to think twice about it.

Nikola Jokic – Points: Over 24.5 (-119)

Jokic has scored at least 28 points in seven of his nine matchups with the Jazz this season. Assuming Murray scores fewer than 50 points, Jokic will be more involved than he was last game. I am willing to bet the trend continues with Jokic since Gobert cannot guard the Nuggets big man when he steps out of the paint.

Jerami Grant – Points: Over 12.5 (-114)

Again, if Murray’s points come down at all, others will need to step up. Grant has played at least 35 minutes in three straight games since his defense is very needed on this starting unit. Despite the low usage, due to Murray taking essentially every shot, Grant has averaged 14.3 points in these games, scoring at least 13 in two of them.

Jamal Murray – Made Threes: Over 3.5 (+100)

If we’re going to bet a Murray points prop, this is the one I’m most willing to do. His point prop is currently set at 30.5. If he hits the over yet again, he will hit at least four 3-pointers, and I like the +100 odds we get at DraftKings. Murray has attempted 35 3-pointers over the past three games, making 22 of them. He has made at least four in all of these games. We know he’ll take the shots, so we’ll see if they continue to fall.
