MLB Odds, Betting Picks & Predictions for Tuesday: Top ROI Picks Based on Power Rankings Tool 7/27/21

The Power Rankings tool is taking advantage of some uncertainty to find MLB betting value for tonight. It is helping to identify some of the best MLB picks of the night, starting with a game that does not have a starting pitcher. Charlie Morton is on the mound for the Braves, and the Mets are yet to announce a starting pitcher. This is creating some interesting MLB odds as the model loves some of the baseball betting angles from this game.

MLB Expert Betting Picks & ROI Predictions | July 27

Atlanta Braves (+135) at New York Mets29.9% Expected ROI

This is one of the best MLB picks the Power Rankings has identified this season. Despite currently getting listed as an underdog at some books, the Braves have been given a 55% chance to win the game. The main reason is the Braves are sending a strong starting pitcher to the mound in Morton, while the Mets are yet to name a starter. New York’s rotation is in flux since Jacob deGrom remains out with forearm soreness.

Without a Mets starter to break down, the focus here is on Morton. His 95.4 mph average fastball velocity is his highest mark since 2018, and this is leading to a 28% strikeout rate. What is also great about Morton from a betting perspective is that he rarely has bad nights. He also puts the Braves in a position to win since he has quality starts in six of his last seven outings. Morton held his opponent scoreless in three of those starts.

New York Yankees (+134) at Tampa Bay Rays 9.4% Expected ROI

The Yankees are another road underdog to target. The Power Rankings model remains high on New York despite a disappointing season to this point. It rates the Yankees as the best team in the American League when considering pitching, hitting, defense and base running. This might seem like a stretch, but at the very least the Yankees should perform better going forward. For tonight, Jordan Montgomery is on the mound, and he is quietly putting together a really strong season. He has a 3.58 FIP, and like Morton, there are not many bad outings in his game log. Montgomery has allowed three runs or fewer in 10 of his last 11 starts and is coming off an outing where he allowed zero runs against the Red Sox.
