MLB Odds Boosts

Giancarlo Stanton OR Aaron Judge Hit a Home Run

It feels like a safe bet that either Giancarlo Stanton or Aaron Judge could hit a homer on any given night given their power. It seems much safer when the New York Yankees are playing the Baltimore Orioles. However, the Yankees haven’t played since Sunday, so they have probably lost some of the offensive rhythm they built in Washington.

That might be a bad thing for Stanton, who hit two bombs in the three games against the Nationals, but it’s a welcome break for Judge, who had just two hits in 12 at-bats in Washington. Judge has had plenty of success hitting the ball out of the park against Baltimore, with 15 homers in 50 games against Baltimore, including six in 23 games at Camden Yards.

FanDuel is offering this prop wager as one of its “Super Boosts,” so the MLB odds have shifted dramatically from -115 to +130. New York teed off on Baltimore’s probable starter, Asher Wojciechowski, last season with three home runs in four innings in an eventual 9-4 win.

Jacob deGrom 10 Strikeouts AND Mets Win

Jacob deGrom has been one of the major reasons the Mets have been respectable the past two seasons, as he’s racked up two Cy Young Awards. In 65 starts since the beginning of the 2018 season, deGrom has fanned at least 10 batters 20 times. He struck out eight in five innings in the season opener, so his command is clearly there, and he’s still missing bats regularly.

The only problem is the Mets are 29-36 in those 65 games he’s started over the last two seasons, though that is not an indictment on deGrom at all. Still, New York has already won the first two games of the series and they have the best pitcher in the National League over the past two seasons on the mound.

FanDuel has moved the MLB odds on this prop bet to +600 from its starting place at +500, which is excellent value for a wager of this nature. New York’s offense is firing on all cylinders without their best bat — Pete Alonso — and the Red Sox had 20 strikeouts in the first two games of the year against the Orioles. Boston hasn’t faced a pitcher of deGrom’s quality yet, and it might be enough to overwhelm their lineup.

PGA Odds Boosts

An American To Win WGC-St. Jude Invitational

Since the PGA Tour resumed play in mid-June, the Americans have dominated the circuit with wins in six of the seven events held. This week is the first true test since the restart as the best golfers in the world come to Memphis for the WGC-St. Jude Invitational. American golfers hold down 12 of the top 20 spots in the World Golf Rankings, but Tiger Woods is not playing this week.

Americans have won this event in six of the last 10 years with no repeat winners, but the three internationals who won this event and are playing this week are not entering the tournament in winning form. Rory McIlroy, the 2014 champion, has made the cut in all four events he’s played since the restart but is yet to finish in the top 10. Both Shane Lowry and Hideki Matsuyama have missed two cuts in the four events they’ve played in the U.S. since returning to action.

PointsBet moved the line on this wager to +100 from its original -120, an excellent value considering the American domination on Tour. The only trouble might be Spaniard Jon Rahm, who won The Memorial two weeks ago, but that was his first top-10 finish of the restart.
