Kevin Harvick to Win (+1600)

However, at BetMGM, it’s the familiar name of Kyle Larson leading all drivers at +600. Interestingly enough, Larson just notched his 13th-straight week of being the favorite for the 2022 championship despite having gone winless since Auto Club. Underneath Larson, it’s that same gaggle of Elliott (+800), Busch (+800), and Hamlin (+900) leading the outright charts with William Byron tying Hamlin for the fourth-highest odds.

However, this week’s attention needs to turn to Kevin Harvick, currently sitting at 16-1 odds to win this Sunday. Harvick has favorable track history at Kansas, with four straight top-four finishes to his name as well as three wins during the 750-horsepower era of the Generation 6 car. While past track history is up for debate, as per relevance to the Generation 7 vehicle, it can’t be ignored the level of consistency that Harvick is running for a supposed washed-up driver past his prime. Excluding high variance tracks (Daytona, Atlanta, Talladega, Bristol Dirt), Harvick has an average finish of eighth in eight races with no finish worse than 14th. As the races click off, it appears that Harvick and crew chief Rodney Childers are getting a better grasp of this new vehicle and it’s only a matter of time before this results in a victory.

As far as Blaney, his past Kansas numbers would suggest a driver to bet against with an average finish of 23rd in his past six races there. However, this bet is more about the speed that Blaney showed at Las Vegas – this season’s best corollary race to gauge against this Sunday. Blaney’s day ended early, unfortunately, but he ranked top three in short and long-run practice speeds and backed that up with the fifth-best green flag speed ranking. At Las Vegas, speed in practice was a strong foreshadowing of speed in the race, and all of the drivers who finished in the top five ranked top ten in green-flag speed. If Blaney can demonstrate that same speed on Saturday, he could be a strong threat to win this race on Sunday.
