Yesterday’s NBA Player Props Recap

Last week was a doozy overall. Saturday wound up being the only time we hit on fewer than two of the day’s NBA player props. Saturday evening was close as well, as Gary Trent Jr. came up just short of 19.5 points. Luckily, DeMar DeRozan stayed well below the NBA betting line of 7.5 assists. Then there was Kyrie Irving who decided to take the night off from rebounding. Should’ve known better to try and formulate a firm NBA prediction around one of the most unpredictable athletes in sports. At any rate, it’s on to the new week and what will hopefully be a strong finish to the regular season.

NBA Betting Prediction: NBA Player Props | May 10

Isaac Okoro Over 12.5 Points

Okoro has been remarkably inefficient for much of his first professional season. Despite averaging over 32 minutes per game, Okoro has averaged just 9.1 points and has provided very little production in other statistical categories as well. Yet a favorable matchup on Monday, plus the current state of the Cavaliers injury report, seems to suggest that the over on 12.5 points is a solid NBA prediction.

Looking at Okoro’s stats from recent games, there has been a marked improvement in scoring. He dropped in 12 points yesterday to give him double figures in eight of the last nine games. Yesterday Okoro shot just 5-for-15 from the floor and went 0-for-4 from beyond the arc. Minutes don’t figure to be a concern when handicapping him ahead of tonight’s game, and those shooting numbers certainly should be better. With Darius Garland, Kevin Love and Cedi Osman all ruled out, the Cavaliers will certainly welcome any bonus scoring production from Okoro. On top of all that, he’ll be going against a Pacers defense that ranks 25th in scoring defense. Shop the NBA betting market carefully to ensure the best odds on this wager.

Russell Westbrook Under 13.5 Assists

Westbrook hasn’t finished with fewer than 15 dimes in a game since the last time we played the under on him, which was May 1. His 33-point, 19-rebound, 15-assist effort on Saturday saw him tie Oscar Robertson for the most triple-doubles in NBA history. It takes guts to bet against Westbrook right now, but the Awesemo NBA Player Props Tool is all in, and there are multiple reasons to get behind this play tonight.

First of all, it must be noted that the NBA betting line of 13.5 assists is a full two assists more than Westbrook’s season average of 11.5. Second, it’s important to put the massive week Westbrook just had into perspective. Yes, he finished with 24, 17, 17 and 15 helpers in the four games. But three of those contests came against bottom-10 defenses. The only one that didn’t was a game that went into overtime, one of two overtime games the Wizards had this past week. Contrary to popular belief, tonight’s opponent, the Hawks, actually ranks in the upper half of the league in scoring defense.

Finally, consider the current market odds for this prop. While there has been buyback on the under throughout the afternoon, there are still profitable prices that don’t require much juice in the market. Westbrook could very well break the triple-double record tonight while still staying under 13.5 assists. The line is just too high to not bet it under.

Jordan Poole Over 13.5 Points

Jordan Poole

This NBA player props line of 13.5 points is admittedly 2.5 points higher than what Poole has averaged per game this season. Yet the over is intriguing here given the absences in the Golden State backcourt around him. Damion Lee will be out tonight, as will Kelly Oubre. Poole has only averaged 19.0 minutes per game on the season. He played 26 and 34 in the Warriors’ last two games against the Thunder, with a similar injury situation. Even though he went 0-for-6 from 3-point range in the first of those games, Poole still managed to score 14 points and followed it up with 16 on Saturday.

The Jazz defense Poole and the Warriors will see tonight is notably better than the developmental squad the Thunder are running out there. But with no Mike Conley or Donovan Mitchell for Utah, Poole should be able to get some good looks. He should be able to clear the over on this NBA betting prop.
