This Sunday is indeed a special one as it is the final day of the 2020-21 NBA regular season. Plenty remains left to be decided when it comes to seeding for both the upcoming postseason and NBA Draft Lottery. On top of those heightened stakes, all 30 teams are in action today to close out the season. It is bound to be a great day of basketball and, hopefully, filled with winning NBA betting picks. With every team in action, today’s column is going big once again. Our five featured NBA player props for Sunday include picks for Draymond Green and Trae Young.
Friday’s NBA Player Props Recap
Friday’s NBA betting picks went 1-for-3. Compared to how we had been rolling over the last couple of weeks, it felt like a much colder day than it really was. We successfully handicapped Aleksej Pokusevski to finish under 11.5 points. Unfortunately, we had Killian Hayes going over that same number and he didn’t come anywhere close to doing so. Dorian Finney-Smith also fell short of 4.5 rebounds.
NBA Betting Prediction: NBA Player Props | May 16
Draymond Green Over 8.5 Points
Great players have a knack for showing up when their teams need them most. Although today’s game will still go down as just another regular-season result for the Warriors, the stakes are higher than usual. With a win, Golden State can jump over the Grizzlies and into the 7-8 game in the play-in tournament. Riding a streak of three consecutive double-doubles, it’s hard not to believe Green will put his best foot forward once again on Sunday.
The Awesemo NBA Betting Player Props Tool strongly favors a wager on Green to exceed 8.5 points in today’s game. While this line is above the 6.9 points per game he has averaged for the season, it is also one he has eclipsed in each of the last three and six of the last eight games overall. The Grizzlies are far from an imposing opponent in terms of scoring defense, ranking 17th in the NBA in that category. Memphis will undoubtedly have plenty of attention on Stephen Curry, which should open up opportunities for Green to get some buckets. The juice on this over is not enough to deter a play.
Trae Young Under 9.5 Assists
The Hawks will know by the time their game tips off whether or not they can claim the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Given that Atlanta owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Heat, there’s a real chance that tonight’s regular-season finale against the Houston Rockets might not mean much. This narrative point only bolsters an NBA betting play on Young to go under 9.5 assists. He is averaging 9.4 on the season but has fallen short of the NBA player props line in each of the last three games. While Young is one of the few passers in the league gifted enough to make a wager on double-digit assists seem plausible, it’s certainly easier said than done. The line is even shaded in the opposite direction at some sportsbooks, offering a more profitable return.
Naji Marshall Under 4.5 Assists
The depleted Pelicans figure to be in for a rough season finale tonight against a Los Angeles Lakers team that is vying to avoid the NBA Play-In Tournament. The NBA player props line of 4.5 assists for Naji Marshall in tonight’s game is pretty lofty, to say the least. Yes, the Pelicans will be without all of their key players, but Marshall has consistently failed to eclipse this threshold. In the last ten games, he has only gone over 4.5 assists once. That is with a rise in minutes as New Orleans has fallen apart down the stretch around him. In 36 minutes on Friday, Marshall sparkled with 20 points and 13 rebounds but still only dished 3 total assists. The Lakers are the second-ranked scoring defense in the NBA for the season and figure to be playing with a whole lot of extra intensity tonight. Under is the clear NBA betting picks choice here.
Norman Powell (POR) Under 3.5 Rebounds
It is all hands on deck today for the Trail Blazers. The team needs a win in their regular-season finale to ensure that they will avoid the play-in tournament. Powell has seen his shooting cool off somewhat down the stretch of the season. However, he has done a nice job of finding other ways to impact the game. He has finished with four or more rebounds in each of the last four games, a run that is quite impressive for a player averaging just 3.0 boards on the season.Â

That being said, the fact that profitable plus-money odds are available on Powell to stay at or below his season average makes this a worthwhile NBA betting play. The Nuggets are a solid rebounding team and won’t make anything easy on Powell and the Blazers tonight considering they need to win to lock up the No. 3 seed in their own right. This NBA prediction could net a great return.
Tim Hardaway Jr. (DAL) Under 18.5 Points
Regression to the mean had to be coming at some point for Hardaway. After eclipsing 20 points in five of six games, Hardaway cooled off in a big way on Friday. His 7 points in 25 minutes of action came on just 1-for-11 shooting. While anticipating a crash of that magnitude is another story, Hardaway is averaging just 16.9 points per game over the season-long sample size. That’s a number that remains well below today’s NBA betting line of 18.5. While one could reasonably argue that the Timberwolves are a terrible defensive team, it’s worth pointing out the Wolves have been playing teams tough down the stretch. This line is high enough that Hardaway can have a solid game and still stay under. In other words, it’s simply too high.
