Bucks vs. Bulls Best Bets Tuesday 4/5/22

The regular season winds down with plenty of seeding implications on the line tonight in Chicago. The Bucks are 2.5 games behind the Heat for the top spot in the East, despite losing their last two games. The Bulls are tied with the Raptors for the final spot above the play-in spot. Chicago needs one more win or a Cavs loss to secure at least the six spot and avoid the play-in scenario. Chicago comes off a recent loss to the Heat but has won three of their last five games. Zach LaVine is questionable tonight, but DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic will be on the floor. Alex Caruso will also play tonight through a back injury.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to play through a knee injury as Milwaukee looks to stop a mini skid. While the MVP chatter has increased around their star player, the Bucks are not looking too sharp heading into the final week of the season. Losing two straight and four of ten, Milwaukee is now a half-game behind the surging Celtics and tied with the 76ers. Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton will play, as the Bucks are dealing with minimal injuries at this point. Bobby Portis comes off a big game against Dallas, despite a losing effort by the Bucks, as he continues to gel with a healthy Brook Lopez.

Bulls +3.5 First Half Spread: -112 (FanDuel)

Milwaukee has not been awful down this recent stretch, just not quite Bucks-like in dominating opponents. Even their last two wins were an overtime victory against the Nets and a game-saving block in the final seconds against the Sixers. They are not exactly shredding the competition. The Bulls may be without LaVine, but they still have enough scoring power to keep in a game with the Bucks. The first half should be wide open for Chicago to take advantage of the Bucks not looking totally right, even if the Bulls do not have the depth to last throughout the entire game. OddsShopper will always return the best value on a play, but also give you an edge, like with one book offering the hook on the Bulls. This is most likely a close first half, as both teams can score points. The Bucks lagging a little on scoring defense allows the Bulls to make a run or two, which could easily transition into Chicago covering this number. The Bulls have a horrific record against the top four teams across both conferences, so the best time to strike with Chicago would be the first half of this game.

DeMar DeRozan Under 0.5 3-Pointers: +155 (DraftKings)

This bet on OddsShopper provides a monster xROI of 43% on this play, along with a 56% chance of DeRozan not hitting a 3-pointer tonight. Awesemo’s free projection has him sitting at .6 makes, still considerably under the number of one make. While hitting this number in consecutive games, DeRozan may not have the volume tonight from 3, especially as the Bulls will need him getting to the basket and free throw line much more than launching from deep.

Nikola Vucevic Over 9.5 Rebounds: -125 (DraftKings)

The Bulls center should not have too difficult of a time getting to 10 rebounds, as backed by both OddsShopper and Awesemo. Giannis may be roaming the middle, but both Lopez and Portis will not keep Vucevic entirely from rebounding or at least gaining a good position in the post. Awesemo projects him to finish with 11 rebounds, a strong gap between the projection and the book’s total. OddsShopper has a 66% chance that the prop hits, with a decent 18% xROI on the play. Vucevic comes off a 10-rebound game and has double-digit boards in three of his last four contests.

Jrue Holiday Over 1.5 Steals: +105 (DraftKings)

Holiday will be able to take advantage of an injured Caruso or LaVine, depending on who matches up with the Bucks point guard. There should be passing lanes for Holiday to play, as well as stripping whoever he is guarding. OddsShopper has a 57% chance of this prop hitting, along with a 16% xROI on the play. The plus-money return always helps, and Awesemo is projecting a 1.9 steals night for Holiday.
