It is déjà vu, as the Knicks and 76ers will pick right up from Sunday, except this time in South Philadelphia. James Harden continued his easy transition into the Sixers rotation by torching the Knicks on Sunday at Madison Square Garden, as the Sixers should get a bigger boost from the fans at home tonight. Joel Embiid is still the frontrunner for MVP, but other guys like Tyrese Maxey and even Tobias Harris are providing much-needed help. The Sixers still have one of the toughest on-ball defenders in the NBA in Matisse Thybulle, so things are looking up beyond just Harden’s arrival.
Things are looking rock-bottom for the Knicks as they ride a five-game losing streak heading into tonight. The streak has seen losses to good teams like Philadelphia and Miami to bad teams like the Nets and Thunder. New York is in a tailspin and rumors are already swirling about a soft tank. Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett continue to lead a beaten-up Knicks squad, and Evan Fournier was one of the lone bright spots in the Knicks’ most recent loss to the Sixers. The matchups with Harden and Embiid are tough enough, let alone trying to stop a losing streak on the road in front of rabid fans.

76ers -6.5 First Half Spread: -110 (Caesars)
The Knicks are awful and are playing like it, where the Sixers have found new life moving past the drama of their former point guard only to see a revived Harden. This would be a serious upset of circumstances if the Knicks found a way to win, more like the worst combined shooting night for Philadelphia of the season. That is not going to happen, as the Knicks just have awful timing hitting the Sixers on their stride. Doc Rivers has the ability to stagger scorers in his rotations to avoid having all-bench lineups, even as second units. That will kill any early Knicks runs and put the Sixers in a great spot by the half.
Harden is still playing an extended amount in the first quarter, giving the Sixers a major advantage when an already thin Knicks team hits their bench. Even if the Sixers are not knocking down everything in sight, there is still a great chance the Knicks are doing even less. OddsShopper will get the best return on anything in the first half, even in the first quarter, as Philadelphia is -3.5 in the opening frame.
Tobias Harris Over 6.5 Rebounds: +120 (DraftKings)
OddsShopper has this as the third highest xROI play in this game, behind two unders for Harden. Awesemo’s free projection has Harris finishing with 6.9 rebounds, so there is not too wide of a gap between book and Awesemo. The difference is the +120 return combined with a 29% xROI. OddsShopper also has a 54% xWin chance with the slight edge coming in the additional rebounds from the projection. Harris averaged 6.4 rebounds in the month of February and is coming off two straight games of going under this number. OddsShopper likes the increased opportunities for Harris to hit the boards with less scoring pressure now that Harden is on the team.

Evan Fournier Over 15.5 Points: -115 (FanDuel)
The Knicks guard dropped 24 points on the Sixers on 6-11 shooting from 3. Fournier has been one of the more consistent Knicks players and can see double-digit three attempts on any given night. As tough as the Sixers are on the perimeter, Fournier was able to take advantage of some spacing and get some solid looks. He can also attack the basket and get to the free throw line. OddsShopper has a 60% xWin chance of this prop going over and a 12% xROI. While the latter may be a little lower, Awesemo’s free projection has Fournier cruising past his points total with 17.2 tonight.
Joel Embiid Over 1.5 Made 3’s: +114 (FanDuel)
Embiid has the volume to knock down two 3’s tonight, has the home crowd behind him and he has Harden. Just the arrival of Harden has opened up more shooting opportunities for every single Sixers player on the floor with him, including Embiid. The Sixers have seen 9 total attempts over Embiid’s last two games and should see 5.5 attempts today against the Knicks. Doc Rivers has had no choice but to watch his team take more 3’s than their season average now that Harden is there. Philadelphia is taking nearly five more 3’s on average each game since they traded for Harden. Embiid should be fine tonight with a great return at +114.
