How to Bet Wizards vs. Heat Tonight: Expert Betting Picks & NBA Player Props 12/28/21

COVID strikes again, as Kyle Lowry was the latest player between these two teams to land on the protocol list. Washington is already without Bradley Beal and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope — both on the COVID list. Miami is still without Bam Adebayo and now Dewayne Dedmon. The good news in all of this is the Heat got Jimmy Butler back from injury and the Wizards are 4-1 this year without Beal. Other Heat players from Gabe Vincent to Duncan Robinson have emerged, and even Max Strus has gotten involved. Without Lowry there will be a little scoring void that will not all be filled by Butler. Wizards vs. Heat NBA Betting Picks + Odds Shopping

The easiest place to find the best bets in the NBA is on the one-stop shop for value and where to place a wager. The best part is the tool is free and easy to use. Simply filter, sort the page and find the best return available across all books.

Heat -6.5 (-110, BetMGM)

Miami is the better team in this matchup, especially with the return of Butler. The Heat have one of the best scoring benches in the NBA, which was aided by the return of Caleb Martin — also from injury. Butler missed 12 of the last 13 games, so do not expect him to be gassed or tired tonight. Tyler Herro and Robinson are strong shooters that will test any remaining perimeter defense for Washington. The Wizards have pieced together a couple of nice wins without Beal, but the circumstances here call for someone on Washington to fill the gap. Unfortunately for Washington, Spencer Dinwiddie cannot do it alone. Make sure to check OddsShopper, as they have sorting tools for game lines and totals — also 100% free to use.

Duncan Robinson Over 10.5 Pts, Over 2.5 Reb, 2+ Ast (+450, DraftKings)

OddsShopper has all three individual plays as some of the stronger expected win rate hitting across the board. Robinson expects to continue an uptick in minutes and shooting, no matter if it is Butler or Lowry out. He has a 71% expected win rate for 2.5 rebounds, 67% to go over points, and bumping his assists to two is a risky play for a better return. There will be more shooters on the floor around Robinson, so him getting to two assists should not be a major ask. OddsShopper has a 54% expected win rate on 1.5 assists, so pushing it to two assists gets the +450 back.

Jimmy Butler Over 21.5 points (+100, FanDuel)

This is going to be a long night for anyone charged with covering Butler. After sorting by expected win rate on OddsShopper, bettors get a fantastic return on this bet at even money. Awesemo has Butler projected for 23.4 points against the Wizards — nearly 2 full points ahead of the line. This type of bet is truly where OddsShopper separates itself from other shopping sites, as there is a wide gap between projections and the even-money return. Not every bet hits, but bettors need to have some semblance of control and some idea of why the bet makes sense in the first place. Butler is also due for an offensive explosion, as he has not hit 20 points since Nov. 20.

Wizards +1.5 First Quarter (-105, BetMGM)

Feel free to check out OddsShopper when looking for the best half and quarter lines on every NBA game. With everyone expecting the Heat to run over the Wizards, including a big night from Butler, it is a perfect opportunity for Washington to steal the first quarter. Miami is still without their top two centers, as Washington might attack early to get some easy buckets or head to the line. Depending on how big the lead is for the Wizards, it might be a good live-betting opportunity on Miami. Maybe it is Dinwiddie or a combination of players, but the Wizards are going to catch the Heat snoozing to start the game.

Heat -6.5 & Wizards/Heat Halftime/Final (+1200, DraftKings)

This does not seem as complicated as it may appear, but it certainly is deserving of the longshot odds. It is a massive payout, but not one that should be out of reach. The Heat should cover this game, so it just has to be as a result of some second half surge. The Heat have a ridiculously strong bench and can overcome the lack of depth anywhere on the floor — in this case it is more the centers than Lowry. Both teams can defend, but Washington loses Beal on both ends, and it is not easy to replace that for a full game. It would take the Wizards emptying their tank in the first half, doing everything they can to get up and hold that lead after one. The Heat should own the third quarter, and watch Butler take over the fourth. Bet a half unit on this same-game parlay.
