The Nets are on the second leg of a back-to-back after defeating the Nuggets last night, 122-116. With Kyrie Irving continuing to be away from the team, Kevin Durant is leading the way for Brooklyn. Last night, he nearly grabbed a triple-double, finishing with 34 points, nine rebounds and 13 assists. The Nets opted to have Caris LeVert come off the bench, leading the second unit. It proved to be a wise decision, with LeVert finishing with 20 points, five rebounds and six assists in only 26 minutes. Since it is a back-to-back, it is important to watch the updates on Durant. If he is held out, LeVert would enter the starting lineup, which could completed shake up the starters, as it did previously. Coach Steve Nash is adamant in having playmakers on the second unit that can operate completely separate of the starters.
After a hot start to the season for the Knicks, they have been losers of three straight games. The issue in all three games was offense, with them unable to score over 89 points in any of the games. Leading the way for them in the scoring department this season has been big man Julius Randle, who has really impressed. He has averaged 22.1 per game, while also leading the team in average assists (11.2) and rebounds (6.9). One player who is pure offense is Alec Burks. Unfortunately, he remains out with a sprained ankle tonight. The Knicks have been without him since December, and he will be a welcomed return to the lineup soon.
