It looks to be a short-handed Lakers squad tonight. LeBron James, Dennis Schroder and Talen Horton-Tucker continue to be out. On top of that, the Lakers are playing on the second leg of a back-to-back, and Anthony Davis left the game last night injured. He supposedly is expected to play, but he would be tough to trust. Awesemo currently projects him for nearly 32 minutes tonight. After Davis, Kyle Kuzma is projected to be the second-highest scorer for the Lakers, at 15 points. There will be a lot of pressure on him to perform well for the Lakers to have any kind of chance. They have lost seven of their past nine games, including four of the past five. The Lakers are dropping dangerously fast in the Western Conference.

After a really rough stretch of games, the Trail Blazers have now won five of their past six games, with them all coming on the road. They return from a long home trip tonight, hoping to improve their home record before the postseason. The Blazers are coming off a big 26-point road win over the Cavaliers. Damian Lillard was dialed in, hitting six shots from downtown en route to a game-high 32 points. Tonight Awesemo projects Lillard to lead the game in points, with 26. C.J. McCollum is also projected for over 20 points. Norman Powell missed last game due to a knee injury, but he is considered probable for tonight, the first game of a back-to-back.

Lakers vs. Trail Blazers Prediction

Portland is 0-6 in their last six home games, but that clearly was a bad slump. They have broken out of that slump, so another way to look at it is that they have returned to the 16-10 record home team. The Lakers are too short-handed to trust, while Lillard is dialed in. The constant criticism I have noted for the Lakers is their inability to put the ball in the bucket. That clearly is not an issue for this Blazers team, which is why I predict they will get back on track at home while also covering the spread.
