Portland enters this game as the fifth seed, holding the tiebreaker over the Mavericks. However, there is still the opportunity for the Trail Blazers to fall all the way to seventh, which would put them in the play-in games. So there is a lot on the line for Portland down the stretch. They appear to be healthy for tonight, with Carmelo Anthony no longer on the injury report. The team is coming off a big 140-point game in their win over Houston. The Blazers has four different starters score 20 points. However, Damian Lillard continued to lead the team in scoring, putting up 34 as both he and C.J. McCollum drained six shots each from beyond the arc. While defense may not be this team’s strong suit, they should be able to score against anyone.

The Jazz announced that star Donovan Mitchell will be held out until the playoffs. Mike Conley also remains out tonight. Utah sits atop the NBA with a 50-19 record. This puts them two games ahead of the Suns. While it would be nice to get a win and clinch the homecourt advantage, the Jazz clearly have less incentive to go all out tonight, especially with winnable games against the Thunder and Kings to end the season. Without their backcourt stars, Bojan Bogdanovic and Jordan Clarkson have each stepped up in a big way. Over their past five games, they are averaging 28.8 and 25.8 points, respectively. This includes a 40-plus game from each. They both will need to keep scoring at a high clip for them to have a chance against the high-scoring Blazers.

While the over is also an interesting bet tonight, I am most comfortable with taking the Blazers. I am also happy to take the moneyline or tease the spread up to Blazers -4.5 for better odds.
