Joel Embiid Scores 30+Points AND 76ers Win

There is no real good news in hearing Ben Simmons is out with a partially dislocated kneecap, but it does open the floor for some of Philadelphia’s other stars to take on a larger role. Joel Embiid has been a monster so far in the bubble and there’s no reason that should change against Orlando.

In three games since the restart, Embiid has averaged 32.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game in helping the 76ers win twice. The Magic really don’t have anyone to match up with Embiid, which might force them to instead focus on slowing down the players around him, allowing Embiid to have another big game.

The Magic have done enough to distance themselves from the Wizards that a playoff for the No. 8 seed isn’t in the picture, but now they have to chase down the Nets for the seventh seed. Still, Orlando has struggled against the better teams it has played in the bubble. The Magic are 2-0 against teams with losing records and 0-2 against those with winning records since the restart, and that trend likely won’t change today.

BetMGM is being generous by boosting this wager to +325 NBA odds considering the factors involved. Philadelphia might not be the same title contender it fancied itself with Simmons, but it still is good enough to beat Orlando and continue clawing for better playoff seeding.

Mike Trout Hits Home Run

Becoming a dad has given Mike Trout an extra power boost it seems after going 4-for-12 with three home runs in a three-game set with the Mariners. He’s looking to continue that hot streak tonight against the Texas Rangers and vulnerable starter Jordan Lyles.

Lyles hasn’t allowed a homer yet in six innings this season, but he was rocked pretty good last time out with four runs, all earned, in four innings against the Giants. He has induced slightly more fly ball outs than ground ball outs the past few years, so Trout could get a pitch to at least drive into the outfield in the early at-bats.

Trout hasn’t had a ton of success hitting home runs in Texas in the past, but this a new ballpark. What hasn’t changed is the fact Trout has bashed 36 home runs in his career against the Rangers, trailing only the Mariners in that department. Given his current form, he could easily add to that total today.

PointsBet with a tiny boost from +190 to +210 for this wager, and there is a lot of risk as with any very specific wager like this. However, Trout seems to have found a new focus at the plate, which might be enough for a player as good as Trout.

Oilers AND Penguins Win

Two fifth seeds face elimination today after both fancied themselves as potential Stanley Cup Contenders. Four of the best players in the game are in danger of being booted from the playoffs by pesky underdogs as the Oilers and Penguins try to stave off golf season.

There certainly hasn’t been a shortage of goals between the Oilers and Chicago Blackhawks as both teams have scored 13 goals through three games. The problem is that Edmonton’s goaltending has been putrid and wasting the efforts of the Oilers’ talented forwards. Connor McDavid already has five goals, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has six assists and Leon Draisaitl has three goals and three assists in the series, yet Edmonton still trails. At some point, the Oilers’ offense should just overwhelm the Blackhawks, and that might be today.

Pittsburgh’s issue isn’t Carey Price, surprisingly enough. Yes, the Montreal goalie has a .937 save percentage so far, but the Penguins led 3-1 midway through the second period of Game 3 then allowed three unanswered goals. Evgeni Malkin has just one assist and is -2 in three games, and Jack Johnson and Patrick Marleau are both -4 for the series. Yet Pittsburgh has too much talent not to believe it will raise its level today with the season on the line.

PointsBet moved the odds on this up to +200 from +180, and it’s hard not to be happy about that. The Oilers and Penguins are the more-skilled teams in each of their matchup and both had visions of winning the Stanley Cup. Neither will go down without a fight, and both should push their series to decisive fifth games.

Barcelona AND Bayern Munich Win

We head to Europe for a weekend odds boost from the Champions League Round of 16. Two of the best European soccer teams on the continent are trying to secure their place in the quarterfinals, and have the luxury of playing this second leg at home.

Bayern Munich welcomes Chelsea on Saturday as it tries to protect its 3-0 lead from the first leg back in February. Bayern has won every game since the restart, but none of those teams will be sending the type of attacking forces Chelsea will need to bring in order to overturn its deficit. Chelsea already had some issues defending in the Premier League, so the opportunities for Bayern to counterattack could open the door to the hosts winning.

Meanwhile, Barcelona is tied 1-1 with Napoli after the first leg, but the home field advantage of Camp Nou cannot be overlooked. Barcelona hasn’t been as crisp since the restart and it’ll be almost a month since it last played a game. Napoli had some good results in returning to play, but the Italian side still faces an uphill battle in traveling to Spain for the match.

DraftKings boosted these odds to +135, and for those looking for a more exotic bet this weekend, this is a solid play with European glory on the line.
