NBA Odds: Favorite NBA Bets + NBA Picks of the Day | August 12

After a big seven-game slate of NBA odds yesterday, we only have four games to look at today. Even though there are fewer games, don’t let that trick you into thinking there will be less drama.

We’re at the point in the season where absolutely anything can happen and coaches can pull their starters at any point. With a ton of injury news, there are some odds that are not available, including essentially no prop bets being available this morning. The best way to check out these NBA odds will be by using our OddsShopper tool since you can quickly compare odds at all of the major books and see if there are discrepancies to exploit.

Betting on the NBA is now getting a bit more complicated since we cannot assume teams will be at full strength. Some teams are resting for the playoffs, while others are trying to develop their inexperienced players. There are few teams truly trying 100% every single night, and the NBA odds are now beginning to account for this.

After reviewing these NBA odds, these are my favorite bets for Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Favorite NBA Odds and NBA Bets for Aug. 12

Indiana Pacers vs. Houston Rockets (-6.5)

This game has so much injury news. Russell Westbrook and T.J. Warren are both out. For the Pacers, Malcolm Brogdon, Victor Oladipo and Myles Turner are all listed as questionable. Do they need to play their starters against a Western Conference opponent? I don’t think so. If they get ruled out, this line will obviously move even further in the direction of Houston, likely to a double-digit spread. We know James Harden is playing for the Rockets, so that alone tells us that they’re trying to win the game.

Indiana Pacers vs. Houston Rockets (Under 231.5)

The Pacers have their top scorer from the bubble out tonight. As stated above, they could be without three other starters, not counting Domantas Sabonis, who has not played in the bubble. The under has hit in three of Indiana’s last five games, and given they are without Warren, there is an even better chance of that happening tonight. Houston, surprisingly, as seen the under hit in for over their last five games. These teams combined for 213 earlier in the season, when the Rockets won by nine points in Houston.

Currently, BetMGM has the best NBA odds on this bet, at -110.

Los Angeles Clippers (-5.5) vs. Denver Nuggets

The Clippers have been coasting, just trying to get to the postseason. However, this game has some meaning. The Nuggets are 1.5 games behind the Clippers for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. With a win, the Clippers will lock that spot down, which seems to be why they rested Paul George last game.

The Nuggets are dealing with a fair amount of injuries, with Gary Harris and Will Barton still not making their bubble debuts, while Jamal Murray has played just two games down in Orlando. It seems as though health is the team’s top priority, not playoff seeding. They have been in positions to win games, yet they kept starters on the bench. I expect a similar mindset tonight, with their top players being limited.

Currently, PointsBet has the best NBA odds on this bet, at +100.
