Favorite NBA Odds and NBA Bets for Aug. 14
What a fun night of NBA games where there are zero stakes. When predicting winners, we need to predict how long starters will be in and how talented the depth of each team is. With that in mind, these are my favorite bets today. Good luck.
Denver Nuggets (+3.5) vs Toronto Raptors
The Raptors starters are out and I expect the Nuggets’ starters to play a little bit, but this game will be decided by the bench play. Both teams have solid depth, but it’s the backups on Denver that have been absolutely terrific. The Nuggets have also lost a lot lately, so from a mental perspective, it would be nice to see something go right on the scoreboard before jumping into the playoffs.

Oklahoma City Thunder (+6) vs Los Angeles Clippers
We have not heard anything about the two stars for the Clippers, but I would assume at least Kawhi Leonard will be out. Once we get that news, the spread should narrow, so I am locking this in now. Chris Paul is out for the Thunder and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Steven Adams or Danilo Gallinari out, but I expect everyone else to see the floor. They have enough talent to compete with the Clippers that will be on the floor today.
The Thunder may not win straight up, but I expect them to cover the spread.

Philadelphia 76ers vs Houston Rockets (-4.5)
Both teams are expecting to be without a few starters. We already know that Ben Simmons and Russell Westbrook are out. It would be surprising to see Joel Embiid play. So, if we are looking at backups, it would be tougher for Philly backups to come in and play the fast pace style that Houston likes to play. The Rockets backups are already used to it. Houston also features some solid experience with their backups, which should result in them grinding out this win.
