Favorite NBA Odds and NBA Bets for Aug. 7
Orlando Magic (+5) vs Philadelphia 76ers
After suffering a partially dislocated kneecap, Ben Simmons will be out for the 76ers today. The best player on both of these teams is at center, with Nikola Vucevic matching up with Joel Embiid. The two essentially cancel each other out for production, so it’s the supporting casts that will determine the winner today.
Aaron Gordon has put up two double-doubles against Philadelphia this season, while Evan Fournier has averaged 16.5 points. The Magic have also won both meetings this season. With this game likely to be a slow, grind-it-out game, I trust the Magic to come out on top, or at least keep the final score within a possession.

Orlando Magic vs Philadelphia (Under 222.5)
To repeat a little from the above bet, Simmons is out for the Sixers today. Not only does this eliminate one of Philadelphia’s best players, who is often the most athletic player on the floor, it will likely replace him with a veteran post player, having Al Horford re-join the starting lineup. This will naturally lead to the 76ers not pushing the pace as often.
The Magic, on the other hand, have the fifth-slowest pace in the league (98.92). Both meetings between these teams this season led to point totals far below this one, and I expect that to happen again despite offenses picking up in Orlando.

Derrick White – Points (Over 16.5)
Since the game odds are limited early on today, let’s include one of my favorite NBA prop bets of the day.
The Spurs have said that the bubble is about developing their players rather than competing for a championship. White has been one of the beneficiaries of this, and he has thrived in this opportunity. Through four bubble games, White has averaged 21.3 points in 32.5 minutes. The Jazz have really struggled defensively in Orlando, and they are resting their starters today. Look for White to take advantage of this and to continue his strong play.
