NBA Odds: Favorite NBA Bets + NBA Picks of the Day | August 8

We have five games on the schedule today, giving us NBA betting action all day long. However, players sitting out has limited NBA odds offered early in the day. The best way to check out these NBA odds will be by using our OddsShopper tool since you can quickly compare odds at all of the major books and see if there are discrepancies to exploit.

Betting on the NBA is now getting a bit more complicated, since we cannot assume teams will be at full strength. Some teams are resting for the playoffs, while others are trying to develop their inexperienced players. There are few teams truly trying 100% every single night, and the NBA odds are now beginning to account for this.

After reviewing these NBA odds, these are my favorite bets for Saturday, Aug. 8.

Favorite NBA Odds and NBA Bets for Aug. 8

Los Angeles Clippers (-2) vs Portland Trail Blazers

The Clippers want to win this game to ensure they stay in the No. 2 seed. However, the biggest reason they want to win this game is because they do not want to see Portland in the playoffs, with how well they are playing right now. With Patrick Beverley likely out again tonight, it could be tough for the Clippers to slow down Damian Lillard. Still, the duo of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are built to beat a team like the Blazers. The only player truly physically built to stop them in Portland’s starting lineup is Carmelo Anthony, and his defensive abilities, or lack thereof, are well documented.

The Clippers won both matchups with the Blazers this season, and they should go for the clean sweep today, covering the spread in the process.

**UPDATE: Kawhi Leonard has been ruled out and the line has moved to Clippers +2. Due to the hit to the defense overall, without but Kawhi and Beverley, I no longer am favoring the Clippers**

Los Angeles Lakers vs Indiana Pacers (+8)

It could be worth waiting around to see the news on T.J. Warren, who is questionable with a sore foot. If he plays, the Lakers should have a tough time winning in general, much less covering an eight-point spread. After resting last game, LeBron James should be back for the Lakers, but that increases the chance that Anthony Davis is held out or limited. The Lakers have nothing to play for, while the Pacers continue to battle for seeding in the Eastern Conference.

In the only matchup between these two teams this season, the Pacers won, 105-102. This is the type of result I am expecting, but betting the spread gives us a bit more safety.

Phoenix Suns (+2.5) vs Miami Heat

The Suns are the only team to remain unbeaten in the bubble, and I do not think that changes today. Miami will be a bit shorthanded again today, with star Jimmy Butler and Kendrick Nunn already ruled out. Fellow guard Goran Dragic is questionable with an ankle injury. If he is out, the depleted Miami backcourt could have an even tougher time controlling the guards for Phoenix.

Devin Booker enters this game scoring 27+ points in three of his four bubble games. He and Deandre Ayton, who is coming off a 20-10 game, should lead the way for the Suns, while Ricky Rubio facilitates the action. The Suns come in red hot while the Heat are struggling with their personnel changes. I like Phoenix to remain unbeaten.
