NBA Odds + NBA Picks

Jayson Tatum + Jaylen Brown Score 50+ Points (+140 PointsBet)

The Eastern Conference matchups have been really hard to bet during these NBA playoffs, and this series between the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors isn’t an exception. One reason I was drawn to this wager was the low number on the combined points for these two Boston stars. Tatum has scored at least 20 points in five of Boston’s six playoff games this season, including three contests with at least 30 points, and that would mean bettors had to rely on Brown scoring far less. Brown has struggled recently with his shot, so he’s having to take more shots to reach the 16 or 17 points he’s scored in the last three games.

Tatum has been very efficient in this postseason, which is another reason I like this bet a lot. He’s shooting 48.7% from the field and 46.5% from 3-point range, which lends itself to larger point totals given how often he touches the ball for the Celtics. Brown hasn’t been as effective lately, but he seems poised to potentially have another 20-25-point night soon given how much he continues to shoot the ball. He was a 48% shooter during the regular season, so his 37.1% shooting over the last four games should improve as he continues to shoot the ball.

Nikola Jokic Makes 3+ 3-Pointers (+175 PointsBet)

I tried staying away from any NBA odds boost that included Jamal Murray or Paul George because I’m curious how both will react in Game 1. George struggled in the Los Angeles Clippers’ first-round series with Dallas and Murray crashed hard in Game 7 for the Denver Nuggets against Utah. So I settled in on Jokic, who has quietly been the most consistent player the Nuggets have had this postseason. He scored at least 22 points in six of Denver’s seven games against the Jazz and shot 51.5% from the field, including 47.8% from behind the arc.

The Clippers have the bodies to slow down Jokic on the perimeter, but the question is how much attention will they put on him early? Jokic made at least three 3-pointers four times against the Jazz, including his 7-for-11 performance in Game 5, and he’s really come into his own with Murray’s standout performances. Los Angeles allowed Dallas to make 40% of its 3-pointers in the first round, but the more apt comparison might be Kristaps Porzingis, who made 8-of-13 3-point attempts in Games 2 and 3. Jokic will have his chances from the perimeter, and he’s in a good rhythm, so I expect he’ll make a fair amount of them.
