NFL Betting Picks: Thursday Night Football: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans

Travis Kelce To Score A Touchdown (-134)

The last time we saw Kelce take the field against the Texans, it was in the Divisional Round of last year’s playoffs. The Texans had no answer for him, leaving him to catch 10 passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns. His receiving touchdowns dropped to five during the regular season after he compiled 10 of them in 2018, but he still led the team with 19 red zone targets. He should be right in the middle of what could be a high-scoring game, so look for him to find his way into the end zone.

Deshaun Watson Over 29.5 Rushing Yards (-110)

The Texans offense will look very different this season. Gone is DeAndre Hopkins, who established himself as one of the best wide receivers in the league during his tenure with the team. Replacing him will be Brandin Cooks, who finds himself on his fourth team in the last five seasons. The Texans also added David Johnson at running back, so it’s not as if this team is void of weapons. With that being said, even more pressure will be on Watson to carry them back into the playoffs.

With regards to this player prop, Watson rushed for at least 30 yards in nine of the 15 regular season games that he played in last season. He also topped that mark in both playoff games. In his two matchups with the Chiefs, he rushed for 42 and 37 yards, respectively. Give me the over.

Patrick Mahomes Over 2.5 Passing Touchdowns (+155)

Let’s take a chance on a wager with plus odds. While some teams might get off to slow starts because of roster turnover and a lack of preseason games, Mahomes enters this season with most of his main pass-catching options unchanged. The Chiefs did make a change at running back by drafting Clyde Edwards-Helaire, but his ability to catch passes out of the backfield should only help Mahomes. After throwing three touchdowns against the Texans during their regular season matchup, Mahomes added five more scores through the air against them in the playoffs. Don’t be surprised if he comes out firing and takes advantage of their suspect secondary here.
