NFL Futures Bets + NFL Odds: 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Over/Under Win Total 9.5 | NFL Picks

The 2020 NFL season is coming in hot, which means your betting card for the season needs a double-check. We’re going to be going over a copious amount of NFL futures bets, NFL odds, NFL betting picks and NFL predictions for the 2020 campaign. Sportsbooks have released win totals for every team, and we’re going to examine strengths, weaknesses, schedules and make predictions on the over/under. Right now, we’re looking at the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles healthy scares in 2019 seemed to transfer over to 2020 a tad. They became the first team to have a 4,000 yard passer without any 500-plus yard receivers. Not even one. They drafted trackstar Jalen Reagor, who did it all for TCU. The problem is he was too busy attempting to make a tackle on an interception thrown by rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts. Carson Wentz was out with an injury, but he stayed healthy last season during the regular season. That is vital for an offense that may not have a true star. The hope is Miles Sanders will be an all-purpose machine since he is such a threat out of the backfield. The run game may struggle at times after losing Brandon Brooks and Andre Dillard. The losses of those hog mollies are tough, but this team can rely on Jason Peters to fill in admirably. The defense brought in one of the best corners in the NFL. Darius Slay is a star and was able to stay with DeSean Jackson all throughout the month of August in practices. Those two had some intense battles, but the expectations are surely to reach the postseason and the odds show it.

The NFL futures market has the Eagles at a 9.5 win total and juice to take the under, which gives a little value on the Eagles over. Even with health scares, this squad is very talented and has good NFL odds to return to the postseason.

Philadelphia Eagles Strengths

Taking care of the football is certainly a strength of this when Carson Wentz is on the football field. The defense though looks like their biggest strength. Their defensive line is fantastic and should be a nightmare for the rest of the NFL to block. Darius Slay is one of the better cover corners in the league as well, so opposing number one targets should be able to limit star targets. This coaching staff has been one of the best ones out there. Jim Schwartz is one of the premier defensive coordinators and should keep offensive coordinators up late at night. Trying to keep Fletcher Cox out of the backfield is almost impossible. If your offensive line has a weakness, the Eagles will rip it to shreds. The overall experience this team has will help them towards the end of the season as well.

Philadelphia Eagles Weaknesses

The injury bug honestly is their biggest issue. Miles Sanders has been dealing with a hamstring injury leading into September. He must stay healthy since he is vital to the offense. Wentz needs him badly and he must stay healthy too. This whole team needs to stay fairly healthy if they want to challenge Dallas for the division crown. The receivers are a bit of a concern due to the health scares they have. DeSean Jackson has had issues, but Alshon Jeffery is the biggest problem. He may miss at least a chunk this season and has really had problems since that pass tipped off his hands in the NFC divisional round and into a Saints defender to seal Philadelphia’s fate. Another issue is at linebacker where the overall talent isn’t great. They will not need to play like world beaters, but there is not a real difference maker at that position. Thanks to a star-studded front four, they should be able to play well enough together as a team.

Philadelphia Eagles Schedule

The month of November and December is awfully difficult, but this team has been through together as a team. Injuries occur on a weekly basis and they still find ways to overcome. The adversity they face on a yearly basis under Doug Peterson is impressive, but going up against Washington and New York (NFC) is a fourth of their schedule. Not many teams play in a division with two of the lower ranked squads in the entire NFL. Seattle, Green Bay and New Orleans is a tough December schedule, but the Eagles will likely take advantage of that extra spot this season in the playoffs.

NFL Prediction

This is the third year in a row that the Eagles have been at or near 10 projected wins. The NFL odds are at -215 to reach the postseason and +160 to miss it. The schedule is challenging, but those first three games are all winnable. A good start is key since they should be getting Reagor around Week 4. DeSean Jackson should have a solid season and we all know Zach Ertz is about as good as it gets at moving the chains. The talent level is there thanks to a strong defense and a potent passing attack. To win the division last season without any reliable wide receivers was quite impressive. The month of August wasn’t an easy one, but Philadelphia is stacked up front on defense. Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett should harass the opposing signal-callers and it should be highly entertaining for the Philadelphia faithful. They had a dominant front just a few years ago when they knocked off the Patriots to win the Super Bowl. We shall see if they can get hot down the stretch like they often have, but this win total is not asking too much. Most may have to sweat it out, but I would take the over on the NFL futures bet of 9.5 wins and feel confident that this offense will continue to make strides with Carson Wentz under center. For some NFL predictions that do have it at 10.5 wins, a rare pass may be the best play. Look for a 10-6 type of season and a wild card berth.
