The 2020 NFL season is coming in hot, which means your betting card for the season needs a double-check. We’re going to be going over a copious amount of NFL futures bets, NFL odds, NFL betting picks and NFL predictions for the 2020 campaign. Sportsbooks have released win totals for every team, and we’re going to examine strengths, weaknesses, schedules and make predictions on the over/under. Right now, we’re looking at the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Pittsburgh is picking up steam on all sportsbooks as their NFL odds have improved for playoff odds as well as divisional, conference and championship odds. All of that may change based on the production of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. After he went down in Week 2 last season, the Steelers went to an absolute nightmare season offensively. Roethlisberger holds the keys to a successful season and while people always like to comment on how bad his appearance is, the dude is a winner. Mike Tomlin is a big time winner too. In fact, Tomlin has never had a losing season in his tenure with the Steelers. If JuJu Smith-Schuster gets peppered with targets and dominates in the slot like he did in 2018, this offense should be relevant. There is no Antonio Brown, but Diontae Johnson and James Washington enter a new season rejuvenated with Roethlisberger at the helm. If they can help out the defense just a little, this team could turn into a bona fide player in the AFC. After the Chiefs and the Ravens, this conference will be wide open for the taking for somebody to challenge them.

The Steel Curtain defense will be right back to where they were last season. Loaded up front, this defense should wreak havoc with a few next-level defenders. T.J. Watt is a strong candidate for Defensive Player of the Year. Stephon Tuitt and Cameron Heyward are mammoth monsters that can get after the passer. Throw in speed at linebacker with Bud Dupree and Deon Bush, and this defense has it all in their front seven. This very well could turn out to be the most stifling defense in the NFL. Even the secondary should be impressive thanks to the addition of Minkah Fitzpatrick last season.
The offense was abysmal last season, but they had practice squad players under center. James Conner needs to stay healthy for this franchise to get back to winning football games. Benny Snell looks like a solid backup after an impressive August, but he isn’t the pass catcher that Conner is. There are questions whether or not Conner is capable of being a consistent workhorse. I actually like the receivers that Roethlisberger has at his disposal, but they need to certainly step up and show out. The lack of an Antonio Brown star as the top target will force everybody to play a little better than perhaps most of them have shown. Smith-Schuster could return to 2018 form, but Johnson and Washington will need to be reliable for Roethlisberger. Eric Ebron could thrive at tight end in spot opportunities, but hasn’t been a major contributor just yet. The Steelers may not have a great offensive line either, but Roethlisberger has made the best of what he has been given over the years. He is the favorite to be Comeback Player of the Year. Will he play like he did two seasons ago?
The Steelers have among the easiest schedules in the NFL thanks to playing in the AFC North. The North goes against the NFC East this season, which means at least two favorable games going against that division. They have the goods to take down the Eagles and Cowboys as well. In fact, the schedule sets everything up for a fast start. Pittsburgh can start out 5-1, which will allow them to have a few bumps down the stretch run. If they manage to start out 5-1, the division will be in play as they get to host Baltimore on Thanksgiving night. That game could go a far way to determining if they are ready to be the biggest threat to Baltimore and Kansas City.
Since 2005, the Steelers have been picked above .500 in every win total. We have seen a few seasons at 8.5 or nine, but Pittsburgh has been about as consistent as it gets. If the offense can thrive with a short field thanks to a stellar defense, this is the team that will go deep into the postseason. Some outlets have the NFL futures win total at nine or 9.5, but some are putting it at 10.5 for less juice on the over. If you can avoid paying much for a total of nine wins, then go all in. There is certainly a little risk like there is for many teams. The Steelers have a chance to be one of the premier teams in the NFL this season. Getting to 10 just comes down to keeping most of the skill players and signal-caller healthy. The defense and special teams will keep them in all games, and the offense is ready to knock down the door after failing miserably a season ago.
