NFL Picks: OddsShopper Best Bets Monday Night Football | Baltimore Ravens vs. Kansas City Chiefs | 9/28

The Monday Night Football showdown we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived, with the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs heading into M&T Bank Stadium to take on the eager Baltimore Ravens (especially following a 2019 NFL Playoffs in which the matchup evaded us). Therefore, its is a perfect time to dive into the Awesemo OddsShopper tool to see what the sportsbooks have to offer as far as NFL picks for the video game-perfect Monday Night Football epic.

Let’s take a look at the best bets. Anywhere from moneyline to proposition wagers and point spread, we’re looking to identify where the best values are at in the moment before the lines move in a less favorable direction. Featuring the electric offenses of the Chiefs and Ravens led by the past two NFL Most Valuable Player award winners in Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, one of these 2-0 teams will be leaving undefeated (all overtime ties aside) and hopefully inclusive of a bankroll boost from your investments therein.

NFL Best Bets Featuring OddsShopper: Thursday Night Football, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Miami Dolphins | 9/24

NFL Pick: Mark Andrews: OVER 4.5 Receptions (-106, BetMGM)

NFL Best Bets Featuring OddsShopper: Monday Night Football, Baltimore Ravens vs. Kansas City Chiefs | 9/28

There’s no question that Baltimore’s Mark Andrews is a monster threat at the tight end position and has been well-deserving of Jackson’s on-field attention for the past two seasons (this being their third together). But how realistic is five or more catches for Andrews on Monday Night Football against the Chiefs defense?

When shifting over to the O/U Receiving Yards tab on OddsShopper, Andrews’ receiving yards proposition line is at 54.5 receiving yards, with house juice anywhere from -112 to -115. The Kansas City Chiefs defense is allowing 11.75 yards per target to opposing tight ends, and they are perhaps the most deficient team in the league when it comes to missed tackles (29 missed tackles in two games, second most in NFL to New York Jets). The Chiefs defense has also allowed 10 receptions for 141 receiving yards to the tight end position in their first two weeks of action, with six receptions for 83 yards surrendered to Chargers tight end Hunter Henry just a week ago.

Andrews has had six receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns on nine targets this season, averaging 9.7 receiving yards per target. Just to apply some simple math to gauge a margin of value between the props and their likelihoods of covering, if you were to get 9.7 yards on five receptions (the number of receptions needed to cover the main prop focused on here), you’d be at 48.5 yards, still under the yardage prop. Clearly this is not something you want to hang your hat on for justification measures, but it lends an idea toward which value between the lines is priority and seems like if Andrews covers the yardage, the receptions should also be surpassed (no sure thing, of course).

Although I do take liking to the over 54.5 receiving yards proposition for Andrews, particularly for his matchup advantage over linebacker Anthony Hitchens at the decreased juice between props at -106, there’s some worthwhile value in the over on this receiving prop for the Ravens’ second-highest targeted player this season.

NFL Pick: Game Total: OVER 54.5 Total Points (-110: BetMGM, FanDuel SportsBook, PointsBet, DraftKings Sportsbook)

NFL Best Bets Featuring OddsShopper: Monday Night Football, Baltimore Ravens vs. Kansas City Chiefs | 9/28

While neither team has yet to face a caliber of opponent this season that’s as stiff as their competition tonight, the one similarity they have shared in that regard is the dismantling of the Houston Texans. That much aside, the value is hard to come by when it comes to the point spread itself. With each team’s offense thriving in facets which best those particulars of the opposing defense for either, it makes for cases to either side of the equation, especially with a 3-point spread that’s razor thin for either of these offenses.

This debacle presented on behalf of the point spread is quite possibly better answered by taking the high road on this one and diverting attention to the greater value of the game total of 54.5 points. In this chapter of Monday Night Football, we’re gifted two teams who can score in a heartbeat, combining for 128 points over their first two games of the season. And as mentioned, each team excels in a variety of avenues on offensive that should keep the ball moving down the field for both teams.

While the Chiefs may find some difficulty in establishing the run against the Baltimore front seven, the Chiefs pass protection combined with Mahomes’ ability to deliver the ball at lightning-fast reflex and precision should provide the room necessary to get Andy Reid some breathing room to mix up his speedy rushing attack when necessary. The Chiefs receivers all match up well against the Ravens secondary in speed and height advantage, while Andrews, Marquise Brown, Miles Boykin and Willie Snead share similar advantages over the Kansas City defenders they’ll be facing.

With the Monday Night Football stage set for what many consider the game of the year on the 2020 season schedule, the offenses for both teams should be flying, and 55 or more points between both of them is certainly an achievable number at standard-rate juice of -110.
