The Seattle backfield will be a bit shorthanded again, with both Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde missing another week. It will continue to be rookie DeeJay Dallas and second-year Travis Homer leading the backfield, with Homer getting the nod more often in passing situations due to his ability to pass protect. This means we again should see a pass-heavy approach from Wilson and company. D.K. Metcalf continues to be nearly unstoppable, totaling more than 90 yards in seven of his eight games thus far.
While the Rams have been trying to set their offense up with the running game, we will likely see a pass-heavy approach from them as well. The Seattle defense is on pace to break the record for most passing yards allowed in a season by more than 800. There is no reason for the Rams to avoid the pass in a matchup with this defense. So, fresh off a bye week, we could see another busy day for Jared Goff. Last time out he looked pretty terrible in a loss to the Dolphins. As usual, his default when playing terribly was to look Cooper Kupp‘s way. Kupp finished with a ridiculous 20 targets in the game, though he caught just 11. The duo is in play in any game script, but if things go south for Goff, we could still see Kupp benefit.
The keys in this matchup will be pass rushing and turnovers. Both Wilson and Goff turned the ball over under pressure in their last matchups. While the Rams look like the more likely team to pressure the quarterback, Goff appears to be the signal caller more prone to mistakes. The question is which will prevail in this important divisional matchup?
