Best AFC Championship Bets & Prop Picks

Kansas City Chiefs Spread (-7.5) Over Cincinnati Bengals

This game features two of the league’s top-scoring offenses, so expect a shootout. Kansas City has been here before as it is their fourth straight AFC Championship game where they are 2-1. Over these four years, the Chiefs have been terrific at home, posting a 35-8 record (8-1 during the playoffs), including 9-2 this year, where they have outscored their opponents by nearly 10 points a game.

Kansas City has been the best team in the NFL since Nov. 1, winning 11 of its last 12, including eight straight at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs have put up 92 points and over 1,000 total yards offense in their two playoff games this year. They have produced at least 28 points along with 372 total yards in seven straight games. Patrick Mahomes‘ play and the Chiefs’ ability to keep him upright is a big reason the Chiefs have been one of the best offensive teams in the NFL all season long. Mahomes has been sacked 33 times (1.7 per game) this season though the Bengals couldn’t get to him in Week 17. Plus, the Chiefs have so many weapons with Tyreek Hill along with Travis Kelce, Jerick McKinnon, and Byron Pringle starring this postseason. Believe that it will be tough for the Bengals to keep up with the Chiefs offensively.

Meanwhile, Cincinnati has been plagued by inconsistency all season long on both sides of the football. This year, the Bengals are 6-3 on the road, with an average winning margin of a little more than eight. However, they have failed to score at least 20 in four of their games, including tallying 19 points in their win last week over Tennessee. The Bengals have been inefficient offensively during the playoffs. However, they have taken advantage of mistakes by both Las Vegas and Tennessee to reach the AFC championship game for the first time in over three decades.

Cincinnati has topped the 30-point mark in just three of their last 10 games. The Bengals also have struggled to move the ball, totaling 653 yards in the playoffs, as they have totaled at least 350 only in five of those games. Their biggest issue recently has been getting their running game going and protecting Joe Burrow. Burrow has been sacked 11 times this postseason. The Chiefs haven’t gotten a lot of sacks this year but believe they will be able to get to Burrow as they ranked fifth in quarterback pressure percentage, third in hurry pressure, and eighth in quarterback knockdown percentage. Chris Jones and Frank Clark are key for Kansas City.

Patrick Mahomes Over 290 Passing Yards

Mahomes didn’t have a great regular season, by his standards. But he has been terrific this postseason. Mahomes has thrown over 350 yards in each of his two playoff games as he has completed 63 of 78 passes (75.8%) for 782 yards, along with eight touchdowns and one interception. He is projected for 298.0 passing yards in an outstanding matchup. Cincinnati gave up the third-most completions and the sixth-most yards in the league to opposing quarterbacks. The Bengals don’t blitz or get a ton of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. So, Mahomes should have plenty of time to scan the field for his numerous weapons. He completed 74.3% of his passes against Cincinnati during the regular season. OddsShopper gives the over a 58% chance of hitting with an expected ROI of 10%.

Tyler Boyd Over 3.5 Receptions

With the Chiefs’ defense likely focusing on Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins along with Joe Mixon, Boyd could have a big day. The Chiefs’ secondary were taken to school by the Bills’ Gabriel Davis last week, and they allowed the eighth-most yards through the air this year. Boyd reeled in four of his five targets for 26 yards and a score in the Wild Card round against Last Vegas, marking the 12th time he has finished with four or more receptions this season. He has 73 catches in 18 games this season. Boyd is projected for 4.39 receptions tomorrow. OddsShopper gives the over a 63% chance of hitting with an expected ROI of 6%.
