There are just two games on the schedule with the NHL keeping its traditional heavy alternate days, so bettors may need to dig a bit deeper for some value in NHL betting today. Both games are also being played in the Pacific Time Zone, so staying up late to catch news may provide an edge. There are still plenty of NHL bets to look through, so let’s dig in.
Best NHL Bets Today: Player Prop Odds & Betting Picks
Red Wings vs. Stars Over 6 (+100, SugarHouse)
Both games on Friday night are actually quite similar to one another. Each contains one of the league’s worst teams while their opponents have battle injuries and COVID. Both games have a six-goal total, but in Vancouver there are two teams that are fully healthy and have more firepower with Nathan MacKinnon sidelined until December. The Canucks will be the driving force in this one, as their defense has been suspect all year, allowing bottom-six marks in expected goals and actual goals. The Jets are off to a great start, with nine wins despite all of the complications with their roster. The biggest surprise has been their improved defense, which comes in middle of the pack in most categories and metrics.
Even though the Jets are showing massive improvement from their nearly bottom-of-the-league defense last year at five-on-five, that will not hold up. Their history of poor defense and ability on offense should provide plenty of scoring chances for both teams, and hopefully Thatcher Demko and Connor Hellebuyck are not up to the task.

Nazem Kadri to Score a Point (-118, SugarHouse)
With MacKinnon there is no larger benefactor in the league than Nazem Kadri, who gets to run with top line for 20 minutes per game. The Avalanche offense is third best in the league in scoring, and Kadri has been a large part of that with a seven-game point streak, including four goals. The value is there with this NHL bet, as Blake Wheeler is the closest comp to Kadri’s line, even though he has 12 more points. Also, if considering the likelihood of Kadri’s power-play compatriots to score — both are at or above 2-1 odds — his involvement is near certain.
Nikolaj Ehlers to Score a Point (-139, Sugarhouse)
