Nine games on tonight’s NHL schedule should make for a fun and profitable night. Like Tuesday, there are not many of the household names, which often creates an edge in value by doing a little extra research. Let’s dig into NHL betting picks for Thursday, Nov. 4.
Best NHL Bets Today: Player Prop Odds & Betting Picks
Canadiens Moneyline vs. Islanders (+114, SugarHouse)
This is a game between two teams looking to get going in any sort of direction other than backwards, as the Islanders go into the Bell Centre to face the Canadiens. The Islanders rank dead last in the league in Corsi-for (44.4%) while scoring just over two goals per game. Their lack of possession has not cost them dearly yet, as they have received very good goaltending, with a save percentage over 92% (sixth in the league). As for the home Canadiens, they have also looked pitiful but are coming off a 3-0 win over the Red Wings, dominating possession and play with 41 shots to Detroit’s 22. The Canadiens’ biggest downfall has been their lack of discipline and inability to kill penalties, with just a 66% success rate. However, the Islanders are even worse at drawing penalties, with the third-fewest power-play opportunities in the young NHL season.
This is a near carbon copy of last year’s Stanley Cup Finals team, so expect them to right the ship at some point. A home dog coming off a nice win facing a team that has struggled to do anything with the puck sounds like a favorable NHL bet.

Taylor Hall to Score a Point vs. Red Wings (-112, SugarHouse)
The Bruins have done well controlling the puck and creating chances at five-on-five, but they have struggled on the power play, hovering in the bottom third in expected goals and power-play percentage. Enter the Red Wings, carrying the league’s third-worst expected goals against on the penalty kill (7.56 per 60) and a penalty kill unit in the bottom third. That should serve Taylor Hall well. Through seven games Hall has 5 points and an individual Corsi-for of 56.5%.
There is a lot to like in this matchup, but as a nice bonus, the Bruins should deploy Hall’s line in favorable situations at home and getting last change. Being a sizeable favorite also works in Hall’s favor, as it is likely the Bruins will roll their lines if ahead by a few goals. They are 1.5-goal favorites, which is rare these days.
