With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the NHL has changed up the schedule a bit so there are just three games to drop some NHL bets on so finding value may be a bit more difficult. There are no teams going back-to-back, so that may help disperse the market a bit, though there are three obvious spots in Tampa Bay, Edmonton and Calgary to hit early or hope for some game-changing news later on. Let’s get into picks for Tuesday, Nov. 23.
Best NHL Bets Today: Player Prop Odds & Betting Picks
Oilers vs. Stars Under 6.5 (-122, SugarHouse)
This number should hold steady throughout the day, with Connor McDavid and company traveling to Dallas to face the Stars. The Oilers have been outshot this year, which is hard to believe considering they are averaging 3.88 goals per game, but much of this is script related. They have been phenomenal early in contests, in particular McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who are second and third in the NHL in goals. The Stars have struggled early to score consistently, with just 2.93 goals per contest. This game looks like it should go much like the Oilers’ other games have gone, with them getting ahead and playing defensive hockey — which has worked, as they have the league’s second-best penalty kill. With similar value to the unders in each of the other two games, this is the best spot on the board.

Travis Konecny to Score a Point (-106, SugarHouse)
The Lightning are once again one of the most penalized teams in hockey, 80 penalties taken in just 17 games. A clear benefactor to those penalties is the opposing team’s top power play, which even after an early-morning shake-up still appears to still contain Travis Konecny. Like many of his teammates, Konecny started out the season scoring at will but now has just 1 point in the team’s last seven games — hence the very good odds. Tampa is not the same kind of team when Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point are not on the ice. Their possession and scoring chances drop precipitously, which leads to them chasing down the other team and taking penalties. The Flyers have struggled for a few weeks now, but getting a load of power-play opportunities is always beneficial for a struggling team.
