Thursday night in the NHL brings 10 games as of this morning, and it appears all teams will be able to roster a squad even with COVID issues. Tuesday lost two games, and it is still possible Florida and Boston will be lost, as both home teams have at least six players out. Before they get postponed, let’s make some NHL betting picks for Dec. 16.
Best NHL Bets Today: Player Prop Odds & Betting Picks
Vegas Golden Knights -1 Puck Line vs. Devils (-114, SugarHouse)
The Vegas Golden Knights have a full roster loaded with depth throughout and arguably the league’s best winger in Max Pacioretty. Since his return, Pacioretty has scored in all nine games and has 16 points overall (10 goals, six assists). The Knights have won six of those nine games. Along with Pacioretty returning the team, they also got back top-line winger Mark Stone and second-line center William Karlsson. Over this span of getting healthy, the Knights have been humming on offense with 4.44 goals per game, which is good for third in the league. On the flip side, the New Jersey Devils have been hit by the COVID/injury bug, with Nico Hischier being its latest victim and missing the last two games.
The Knights are not fully healthy, but they trump most teams on a talent level, especially one missing multiple players. Couple that with the fact the Devils have been awful defensively over the same timeframe as above, allowing 41 goals, which is only better than one other team in the league.

Brent Burns to Score a Point vs. Canucks (+105, SugarHouse)
There have been plenty of confusing NHL betting lines out there, but this might top the list, with Brent Burns getting a fantastic matchup at home against the Vancouver Canucks and their league-worst penalty kill. Burns is the epitome of an offensive defenseman, and at this number he is a phenomenal bet. On the year he is averaging over five shot attempts per game in 26 minutes of ice time. There is basically nothing to dislike here in terms of metrics and opportunity, though Burns does only have 16 points. But a comfortable matchup at home should amplify his chances.
