Nuggets vs. Suns Game Info
Denver Nuggets (51-28, 24-16 Away) vs. Phoenix Suns (56-23, 30-10 Home)
Date: Wednesday, June 9, 2021
Start Time: 9:30 p.m. EST
Venue: Phoenix Suns Arena — Phoenix, Ariz.
Coverage: TNT
As expected, the swarming Suns defense offered a bit more resistance to Nikola Jokic than what he dealt with in the first round of the playoffs. He still managed to score 22 points and secure nine rebounds, but it was a far cry from the 34-plus he scored in five of the Nuggets’ six opening-round games. On the bright side, several of his teammates supplied promising contributions offensively. Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., Facundo Campazzo and JaMychal Green all scored in double figures. Green also grabbed 11 rebounds in a double-double effort. The Nuggets will need to play a similar style of team basketball if they are to steal Game 2 as NBA betting underdogs.
For as solid a team effort as the Nuggets supplied, the Suns did them one better on Monday. Phoenix also had five players reach double figures scoring. The difference was that four of them went for 20 or more. Mikal Bridges led the charge with 23 points, five rebounds and five assists. Chris Paul and Devin Booker were right behind with 21, and Deandre Ayton put up 20. Paul and Ayton added 11 assists and 10 rebounds, respectively, to each notch double-doubles. Jae Crowder rounded out the Suns who scored in double digits. The Suns outscored Denver by 18 in the second half to turn a close game into a comfortable victory.

Nuggets vs. Suns Prediction
With the NBA MVP Award officially bestowed upon him, it’s hard to believe Jokic won’t have a big-time performance in Game 2 this evening. From the Nuggets’ perspective, it was certainly encouraging to see so many players make solid scoring contributions on Monday. Unfortunately, the Suns showed their depth and their overall talent advantage at the same time. The spread is once again too close to call tonight, but Denver gets a slight lean. The over on the total is trending in this series and cashed in Game 1. The odds have ticked up a point ahead of tonight’s matchup, so the play is the contrarian under again.
Prediction: Under 223 (PointsBet)
