On the back of Jamal Murray, Denver fought their way back into their first-round series, ultimately winning in Game 7. However, Nuggets fans cannot be feeling great following that game after seeing Murray get banged up. While he kept on playing, it was clear Murray re-injured his hamstring and was hobbled the rest of the game. This, combined with the defense of the Clippers, could cause serious issues for the young guard.
The question becomes if the rest of the Nuggets team can do enough to win. They are not likely to play good enough defense to lock down the wings of Los Angeles, so a strong offensive performance is likely needed. While Nikola Jokic is one of the best post players in basketball, a solo act cannot beat this Clippers team.
Los Angeles overcame Luka Doncic in this first round. We saw how terrific this team could be, if Paul George shows up to play. If George fails to show up, they are still a solid team, but much of the offense will fall on the shoulders of Kawhi Leonard in the starting unit and Lou Williams off the bench. Still, the depth of this Clippers team is unreal. While we ask if anyone other than Jokic can step up offensively for Denver, we could name off a few players that the Clippers could rely on to get some offensive production. That is what makes them so dangerous and why they are the odds favorite to win the NBA Championship.
