🎲 PGA Betting Picks: WGC Workday Outrights & Each-Way Bets | Gary Woodland

Whether you are a pro making your own PGA betting picks or just getting into the game, betting on golf provides a great way to sweat the action. Like most other professional sports, there are plenty of ways you can bet on golf; with outright winners, head-to-head matchups and plenty more, golf betting offers a wide array of PGA odds and wagers. There will certainly be an edge to be found each and every week, and next up is the WGC Workday.

Our PGA betting series consists of three articles:

  • Outrights & Each Way (this one)
  • Head-to-Head Matchups
  • Jason’s Bet of the Day (stole this idea from Awesemo’s own Ben Rasa): Normally in-tournament matchups

Before we dive headfirst into my foursome of picks for this week, I want to make sure that we define terms for those of you who are brand new.

Outright: A bet that is placed on a golfer to win the tournament.

Each Way: A bet that covers a golfer for the top-five, top-10, and top-20 bets offered.

Article Results (Four Picks Per Week)

24 Total Picks:

  • Wins: 1
  • Top-5’s: 3
  • Top-10s: 5
  • Top-20s: 11

A week after my first win, I get the blank slate. Bryson DeChambeau was terrible, but I’m back in again this week. Collin Morikawa just couldn’t put together a good enough Sunday to give us any return, and our two other plays missed the cut. That won’t happen this week since it’s a no-cut event. Also, don’t hate me, but I’m going back to the well on two of the guys I bet last week. I think they are closer than the odds are suggesting.

PGA Betting Picks: WGC Workday

Bryson DeChambeau

Outright: 20-1 | Top 5: 9-2 |  Top 10: +200 | Top 20: -120

Now DeChambeau fits the trend of missing a cut and then winning in his next start. Well, this would be the next start. Having played his last 10 holes at 4 under last week and looking much more comfortable, I’m ready to give him another go this week. Plus, we are getting better odds through the board and don’t have to worry about a missed cut. Sign me up for all of that.

Collin Morikawa

Outright: 33-1 |  Top 5: 7-1 | Top 10: 3-1 | Top 20: +138

After getting a new putting grip and a spot of rest, Morikawa is here at his longest odds of the year. Having played at this venue in college and last year, he should have all the practice he needs. The last time we saw Morikawa at these types of odds was at the PGA Championship, which he won. I’ll be comfortable backing this star at these levels at pretty much any tournament on tour. The only thing that might hold him back this week is that new putting grip, but coming into the week ranked 190th in strokes gained putting, he cannot get much worse.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout

Outright: 125-1 | Top 5: 18-1 | Top 10: 7-1 | Top 20: 5-2

The only thing that concerns me this week with Bezuidenhout is that his off-tee game isn’t great and is likely to find the water once or twice. But he can also light it up with the putter and has been incredibly consistent over his last seven worldwide starts, which includes two wins and four other top-25s.

Bomb of the Week: Gary Woodland

Outright: 200-1 | Top 5: 33-1 | Top 10: 10-1 | Top 20: 3.5-1 | Top 30: +164 | Top 40: -136

There was nobody more excited to get out of the West Coast and poa greens than  Woodland. While he isn’t a good putter, he is not a guy that’s going to lose an average of 3.93 strokes every round. That’s hard to do. His ball striking looked good, so at these prices, he is a good bet all the way across the board this week.
