Whether you are a pro making your own PGA betting picks or just getting into the game, betting on golf provides a great way to sweat the action. Like most other professional sports, there are plenty of ways you can bet on golf; with outright winners, head-to-head matchups, and plenty more, golf betting offers a wide array of wagers. There will certainly be an edge to be found each and every week, starting with the upcoming Sentry Tournament of Champions. We’ll be focusing on some major players for this first installment like Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas.
That’s why we are debuting our PGA betting series. It consists of three articles:
- Outrights & Each Way
- Head-to-Head Matchups
- Jason’s Bet of the day (stole this idea from Awesemo’s own Ben Rasa). (This one)

Jon Rahm (+100) vs. Xander Schauffele
It’s not often that we have two of the best players entering this week with a bit of an asterisk on each. For Rahm, he’s recently announced he’s signed with Callaway, a switch from the Taylormade clubs that he’s been seen using for quite some time, even back to his college years. But new clubs in the bag is a better thing to bet on, in my opinion, than someone being sick and out of shape. Typically we don’t talk about shape much for golfers, but this golf course is the most demanding walk the players will have all year. So with little to no prep time, and not up to his full speed, I like Rahm quite a bit over Schauffele in Round 1. The fact that we are getting plus money on it is even better.
Justin Thomas (+350) & Collin Morikawa (+550):Â Round 1 Six-Shooter
I’ll be totally honest, I never even look at these. But I happen to be looking at shorting Dustin Johnson and Schauffele specifically. Given that Rahm is also using new clubs and may take a bit to adapt to them, I think that puts him at a bit of a disadvantage as well. So, if my theory is right, in this grouping the last guy is Scottie Scheffler. This being his first time around Kapalua, which can prove to be tricky, I’ll take two guys that have placed in the top 10 in their last event and have good success here, Thomas and Morikawa. If Thomas wins, it’ll be a little more than a 2-to-1 payout. That seems like good value given the conditions.
