During his tie for 35th at the Valero Texas Open last week, Spieth put on a show as a ball striker, gaining 6.2 strokes on approach and a tournament-high 10.9 strokes from tee to green. However, he uncharacteristically lost a career-worst 7.2 strokes with his putter. Before this, Spieth had positively generated strokes with his flat stick in 14 of his previous 20 starts. Plus, returning to the bentgrass greens at Augusta National certainly is a huge boost, as Spieth has dominated them throughout his career. Spieth’s top putting splits come on bentgrass, and he has never missed a cut in eight appearances at the Masters, with five top-10 finishes and a victory in 2015.

All signs are pointing towards a bounce-back performance for Spieth’s putter, and if he can maintain the stellar ball striking, he should be in the hunt for his second green jacket come Sunday afternoon. As for the rest of this group, Young and Hoge have never teed it up at Augusta National before. Young is 0-for-2 in terms of made cuts at the major level, while Hoge has never finished better than a tie for 43rd. Additionally, Kisner has failed to advance to the weekend at four of his past six majors, including the last two Masters. Finally, there is Kokrak. He proceeded through the cut at the last Masters but nearly finished in last place and missed the weekend in his debut at Augusta National the previous season. Overall, Kokrak possesses an unappealing 11-for-18 record in majors. Of these five players, MacIntyre has the best outright odds to win the Masters on BetMGM at +10000 but oddly is not the favorite to come out of this grouping.
