Ben Rasa’s Pick: Tony Finau

Outright: 25-1 (DraftKings)

I have seen this number around 30-1 in some spots, but with Daniel Berger withdrawing, most have landed in the mid-20 range. Regardless, this is a field in which Finau should be able to contend, as the drop-off after Jon Rahm is massive. There is no course history to go off of, but from the looks of the course there should be some attackable holes (including a short par 4), all of which should suit Finau’s tee-to-green game. His form has gotten better after a slow start to the season, with three of four cuts made, including one at Augusta. The plan this week is to pray that Rahm doesn’t win, and if he doesn’t, the board is wide open for quality outright positions for Finau.

Jason Rouslin’s Pick: Aaron Wise

Outright & Each Ways: 34-1 (DraftKings)

Gaining over two strokes putting for the tournament a few weeks ago is hopefully the start of a trend, rather than a random odd occurrence. If it is, then Wise will be in the top 25 if he has a bad week in one of the other statistical attributes. Last week he had a few terrible iron shots that cost him dearly and lost two strokes overall, but he still finished 21st. It seems like Wise is gathering up steam and may not be quite ready to win, but the strength of field this week pushes the timetable up a bit given his talent level. At his highest OWGR since 2018, Wise should continue his ascent up the world rankings this week.

Geoff Ulrich’s Pick: David Lipsky

Outright: +10000 (DraftKings) | Top 5: +1600 (DraftKings)

Lipsky is a former two-time winner on European Tour who successfully made the transition to the PGA Tour. He gained his tour card the hard way, grinding through a full Korn Ferry Tour season where he picked up a win and multiple top-five finishes. Nothing much will standout about Lipsky in the stats, but he’s 20th in birdie-or-better percentage over the last 24 rounds and shot 8 under in the best ball format last week, helping his team to a fourth-place finish. His best results have come at two other weaker-field events at the Palmetto Championship and Corales (seventh in 2022), but he also placed 10th at WGC Mexico in 2019. Considering this week is essentially a glorified Korn Ferry Tour event from a field strength perspective, and the fact Lipsky landed five top-five finishes on that tour last season alone, the +1600 on offer for a top-five finish looks like great value.

Eric Lindquist’s Pick: Kevin Na

Outright: +2800 (BetMGM) | Top 5 +550 (BetMGM)

Over his 18-year PGA Tour career, Na has won just five times. However, four of those victories have come since the 2018 season, meaning he’s won more than his fair share in recent years. With his world-class short game and propensity to run hot with the irons, low-scoring events like the Mexico Open project to be are right up his alley. And considering the field strength is as weak as it gets for a full-field event, Na deserves more respect than this 28-1 number.
