Seattle Seahawks vs. Atlanta Falcons
Date: Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020
Time: 1 p.m. ET
Venue: Mercedes-Benz Stadium — Atlanta, GA
Coverage: FOX
The Seahawks continue to keep things rolling. Russell Wilson has won double-digit games in all but one season with the franchise, and they look to have improved this offseason. On offense, they added another established runner in Carlos Hyde and established receiving options in Greg Olsen and Phillip Dorsett. After bringing back Josh Gordon recently, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Seattle throw the ball around a bit more this season.Â
Defensively, this has a chance to be one of the better units in the NFL, highlighted by the secondary. Of course, the big game changer was trading for Jamal Adams, who can bring physicality to the safety position that the Seahawks have not had since Kam Chancellor. They will be tough to beat all season long.Â
The biggest issue with the Falcons in recent seasons has been their health. The defense has been unable to keep their best players on the field. But as of Week 1, the defense looks healthy enough. They could fly around and pose some problems for Seattle’s offensive line.Â
Offensively, Atlanta has Todd Gurley, whose workload is being managed. The receivers of note are Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Hayden Hurst. They aren’t changing anything on offense, as has been the case since Kyle Shanahan left. That’s the issue. Defenses know what Atlanta is going to do. If Jones does not have a dominant day, they will likely struggle.
