Grizzlies vs. Timberwolves Best Bet

The Memphis Grizzlies look to advance to the second round for the first time since the 2014-2015 season with one win on the road tonight in Minnesota. The Timberwolves are 3-1 against the Grizzlies on their home court this season, so this will be no easy task for Memphis. The Grizzlies lead the season series 5-4 in nine matchups and 3-2 in the first-round playoff series. Can Minnesota silence the trash talk from Ja Morant and the Grizzlies and take home the victory with their season on the line? This game tips off at 9:00 p.m. ET.

The Grizzlies will look to use their momentum after an exhilarating win in Game 5 to try to knock off the Timberwolves tonight. Game 5’s victory was the second double-digit comeback for the Grizzlies this series. Morant was one assist shy of a triple-double on Tuesday, posting 30 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. Desmond Bane was second in scoring on the team, adding 25 points. Memphis trailed for most of the game before turning up their offense in the fourth quarter with 37 points. They had a comeback win on a game-winning layup from Morant. Dillon Brooks was ice cold, scoring 8 points on 3-for-18 shooting from the field. The Grizzlies will be without Steven Adams, who entered the league’s health and safety protocols. Jaren Jackson Jr. will need to be more disciplined tonight with one less big man as an option in the rotation. He has fouled out of the last two games and is averaging an embarrassing 5.2 fouls in this series. Ziaire Williams (knee) is doubtful for this game. Memphis has done a good job of spreading out their scoring with five players averaging double figures during the postseason.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be fighting for their season in Game 6 at the Target Center tonight. The loss on Tuesday was a tough one to swallow after entering the fourth quarter with an 11-point lead. Now their backs are against the wall in an elimination game. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team in Game 5 with 28 points and 12 rebounds and Anthony Edwards was second in scoring, contributing 22 points in the game. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 44% from the field and 14 of 33 from deep. Minnesota is a talented team, but their decision-making down the stretch has been questionable in each of their losses this postseason. Their offense becomes static in the fourth quarter which results in them forcing up bad shots and blowing winnable games. If this team can play disciplined basketball and limit mental mistakes, they can force a Game 7 where anything can happen.

The under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Minnesota and has cashed in five of their last seven meetings. As the playoff series tightens, expect the pace to slow down with more concentration on their defensive efforts because there is far more on the line in an elimination game. As expected, the game total continues to drop as the series progresses and the teams get more physical. Minnesota’s offense ranks 13th in the playoffs so far. The Grizzlies rank 10th in offensive rating in the playoffs. This total feels a few buckets too high with the total averaging 224.6 points per game this playoff series and only two of the five games exceeding 229 points. Given the game is set as pick ’em, take the safer route and ride the under tonight.
