The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics meet on Friday in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics have a 3-2 lead in the series after beating the Heat 93-80 on Wednesday. The Heat need a win to save their season and force a Game 7 in Miami on Sunday. Boston comes into tonight’s matchup as an 8.5-point favorite. The spread as been all over the board this series, but after two convincing wins by Boston, oddsmakers have adjusted the line accordingly. Tonight’s matchup tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Miami has struggled to find consistency in the Conference Finals. The Heat have dealt with numerous injuries throughout these playoffs and it is taking a toll on their overall production. Miami starters have gone ice cold on offense combining for 60 points on 22-91 (24.1%) shooting in Games 4 and 5. Jimmy Butler’s knee injury has greatly impacted his overall production. Butler has scored just 27 points combined in the last three games. Expect Butler to be more aggressive and get to the free throw line more than twice this game. Tyler Herro is listed as day-to-day after he missed Game 5 with a groin injury. Herro is averaging just 13.5 points in the playoffs on 23.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Compare these numbers to his regular season averages of 20.7 points and 40% shooting from three, that is a huge drop-off for Herro. Kyle Lowry had the most shocking stat line of the night in Game 5 with 0 points scored in 25 minutes of play. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury is clearly not 100%. The Heat will need a major improvement from their veteran point guard if they want to have any chance of winning tonight’s contest.

Boston is one win away from advancing to the NBA Finals after big second-half run in Game 5. The Celtics trailed by five at the half, but then went on a 24-2 scoring run in the second half to cruise to a 13-point victory. Jaylen Brown led the way with 25 points while Jayson Tatum had 22 points and 12 rebounds. Boston is shooting 45.7% from the field and 36.5% from deep in the playoffs. Boston has won by double-digits in all three of its wins this series. The Celtics are is getting great performances from Al Horford, Robert Williams and Brown throughout this series. For the Celtics, everything centers around turnovers. In their two losses, the Celtics turned the ball over a combined 39 times. Miami has been most effective creating offense is in transition, off of turnovers, and that is what they will need to do again tonight in order to take home the victory.

The totals in this series keep falling after two low-scoring performances. Miami is beaten down by injuries and will now have to try to pull out a victory on the road. Erik Spoelstra’s one of the best coaches in the league and has too many shooters on his squad to not come out with better effort after making some adjustments from Game 5’s disaster. Boston’s defense is top of the league, but are they getting too much credit for how bad the Heat offense has looked? Even if Herro is unable to suit up, Miami has plenty of sharpshooters that are capable of shooting 50% from beyond the arc. The past two games have been outlier performances for the Heat, so do not expect their poor 3-point shooting to carry over into tonight’s matchup. These two teams easily cleared the 201 points in Games 1 through 3. Game 5’s 173-point total has created value for the over in a lower total. Expect to see offensive improvement out of both squads. Ride the over with confidence in Friday’s Game 6 showdown.
