Best NBA Bets Today: Game Tips & Betting Predictions

Wizards vs. Hawks Best Bet

Washington will travel overnight to Atlanta to face off with the Hawks in Atlanta. The Wizards are coming off a 132-114 win over the Timberwolves behind 25-point performance from Kristaps Porzingis. The Hawks are in a tough travel spot heading back to Atlanta after playing in Toronto on Tuesday, falling 118-108 to the Raptors. These two teams have faced off three times this season, with Atlanta winning the last two matchups. Tonight is a meaningful game for the Hawks, who sit in the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference, tied with the Nets at 41-38. Brooklyn owns the tiebreaker, so a win tonight for the Hawks and a Nets loss to the Knicks would move Atlanta into the Nos. 7/8 seed play-in position.

The Wizards put on a show in Minnesota last night, posting 132 points and taking home the victory over the Timberwolves. Their rotation was small but mighty, with seven of eight players scoring in double figures. Washington will be playing their third game in four nights on Wednesday, so keep a close eye on their lineup given there is a chance some players could rest. Kyle Kuzma (knee) is not expected to play, and with only two games remaining, it seems as if the team has shut him down for the season. Injuries and poor inside defense have been the team’s downfall on what was expected to be a playoff year for the Wizards. Washington is averaging 108.6 points on 47% shooting and allowing 111.7 points. Despite being eliminated from the playoffs, the Wizards have been playing well on the offensive side of the floor, ranking eighth in offensive rating over their last five games. Their offense has scored 130 or more points in three of their last four games and showing no lack of effort in the final week of the season.

The Hawks offense has been on a tear lately, posting 120 or more points in five of their last six games. Their offense ranks second in 3-point percentage and will have an opportunity to face a weak perimeter defense on Wednesday. Atlanta enters Wednesday having clinched at least a spot in the play-in tournament and tied with the Nets with three games to go. John Collins still remains without a timetable, which is not a good look for his chances to return for the beginning of the playoffs. Danilo Gallinari was a scratch in Tuesday’s game against the Raptors with knee inflammation after playing two consecutive games. Look for an update on his status throughout the day. Atlanta is averaging 113.8 points on 46.9% shooting and allowing 112.4 points. Trae Young leads the team with 28.3 points and 9.6 assists per game this season. The Hawks are heating up at the right time, similar to their level of play from last year’s playoff run.

Both teams will be playing on no rest, and both have been successful in cashing the over in this situation. The Wizards are 10-3 over/under, and the Hawks are 9-6 over/under on the second night of back-to-backs this season. Atlanta has gone over the full game total in 57.5% of their home games this season. The total is averaging 231 points in three matchups this year, with the over going 3-0. The over has been cashing for the Wizards as of late, with the team going 5-1 over/under in their last six. Washington has been getting lit up on defense from beyond the arc in their recent games, and tonight will be no easy test facing an Atlanta team that thrives from deep. The Wizards rank 25th in the league in defensive efficiency, and the Hawks rank 26th in that category. Expect Young to have another solid performance in front of the home fans and secure the victory for the Hawks. Ride the over in tonight’s battle in Atlanta.

Thunder vs. Jazz Best Bet

The Oklahoma City Thunder face off with the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, another game with both teams playing on the second night of a back-to-back. Utah clinched a playoff berth in an overtime thriller with a 121-115 win over the Grizzlies at home on Tuesday. The Thunder pulled off a 98-94 comeback win over the Trail Blazers after entering the fourth quarter down 15 points. Oklahoma City is riding out the last few games with several first-time starters. The Jazz still have a chance to improve their playoff seeding in their last three games, so expect a veteran Jazz squad to come out all business on Wednesday. Utah has won six straight games versus the Thunder, including three victories this season.

The Thunder have thrown in the towel, shutting down several of their starters for various reasons. The team is now missing a total of nine players, with Tre Mann joining the list with a hamstring injury. Despite missing their top three scorers, the team has managed to pull off back-to-back wins against the Suns and Trail Blazers. Jaylen Hoard, who got the call up from the G League, dropped 24 points and 21 rebounds in Tuesday’s win versus Portland. Oklahoma City is averaging 104.1 points on 43% shooting and allowing 111.3 points. This team continues to find ways to stay competitive, and players are taking advantage of the opportunity to showcase their skillset for future playing time. The matchup tonight will prove to be much tougher than the Trail Blazers, so expect the Thunder to have difficulties scoring down low against Rudy Gobert and company.

Utah is the better team here, and they have every motivation to play hard to avoid dropping to the sixth seed in the West, but they’ve been blowing leads left and right. Hopefully they can build some momentum off of their overtime win on Tuesday and string together back-to-back wins after losing six of their last eight games. The Utah Jazz are averaging 113.4 points on 47.1% shooting and allowing 107.9 points. Donovan Mitchell leads the team in scoring on the season and is averaging nearly 30 points per game over his last 10. The Jazz feature one of the league’s most dominant benches, led by Jordan Clarkson. Utah averages nearly 38 points per game from their bench, which is ninth in the NBA. If Utah can pull away early in this one, coach Quin Snyder may give these starters some rest after they played extended minutes in yesterday’s overtime win.

The total is averaging 208.6 combined points in three matchups this season. Utah has a 35-41-2 over/under record and 5-7 over/under on no rest. The Thunder are 39-40 over/under and have gone under in their last three games. The under is 18-5 in the last 23 meetings in Utah and 25-10 in the last 35 meetings. Oklahoma City has close to a G League team out on the floor against a seasoned Jazz squad that is desperate to build some momentum heading into the playoffs. These teams are in vastly different positions as the postseason approaches. Given the level of competition, the Jazz may opt to rest some players at the last moment. Look for a Jazz defense that ranks 11th to suffocate an inexperienced Thunder roster and cruise to victory on Sunday. Ride the under in tonight’s matchup.
