NBA Best Bets: Game Tips & Expert Betting Predictions

Trail Blazers vs. Heat Best Bet

Portland is amidst a six-game road trip and looking to extend their win streak to three games in Miami on Wednesday, where they will take on the Heat. Both teams have been playing well as of late, winning four of their last five games. These two teams met recently back on Jan. 5 in Portland, with Miami taking home the victory 115-109. Tonight the Trail Blazers will look for revenge as they have C.J. McCollum back in the lineup after he returned on Monday from a collapsed lung that forced him to miss the previous 18 games.

The Trail Blazers are 18-25 on the season and struggling on the road, where they are 4-14. They were able to piece together two straight road wins with victories over the Magic and Wizards in their last two games. Tonight will be a tough matchup in Miami with the Heat 14-5 at home. Anfernee Simons continues to emerge in the spotlight with the opportunity to play more minutes while McCollum and Damian Lillard were both out. He is averaging 26.1 points and eight assists throughout seven games in January. Portland’s struggles have come on defense, ranking 29th in defensive rating on the season, allowing opponents to score 112.5 points per game.

Miami will be without Kyle Lowry on Wednesday, who will miss his second consecutive game tending to personal matters. His absence will open up minutes for Gabe Vincent, Max Strus or Duncan Robinson. Markieff Morris will miss another game as he works on his conditioning to get back to game form. Bam Adebayo posted 14 points and nine rebounds in his return from a thumb injury. Expect him to shake some of the rust off and continue to improve his efficiency as he gets back into full form. Despite long stretches without their top three players, the Heat are fourth in offensive rating and eighth in defensive rating.

Both teams rank top seven in 3-pointers made per game while ranking in the bottom five of the league for opponent 3-pointers made. These two teams will look to get in a rhythm from deep, so expect them to rack up points in tonight’s matchup. Portland’s game totals are finishing well above their average when facing teams with top-five offenses. Miami has a 7-3 over/under record in their last 10 games, averaging 115 combined points in the first half. The Trail Blazers have been playing in higher-scoring first halves, with a 6-4 over/under record over their last 10 and 115.1 combined points in the first half.

Clippers vs. Nuggets Best Bet

The Los Angeles Clippers take on the Denver Nuggets in a Western Conference battle on Wednesday. The Clippers are coming off a 139-133 victory over Indiana on Monday, snapping a two-game losing streak, while Denver is coming off a 125-102 loss to Utah on Sunday. Heading into this game, the Clippers are 22-23, eighth in the Western Conference. The Nuggets enter this matchup with an overall record of 22-20, good for the 6th seed in the Western Conference.

These two teams split the first two matchups of the season, both taking place in Los Angeles. The Clippers and Nuggets will face off for a third of four matchups on Wednesday in Denver. Nikola Jokic is having another MVP season and is the heart and soul of this team with Jamal Murray sidelined. The Nuggets are averaging 107 points per game on the season. They have managed to get hot from 3 recently, making 20-plus 3-pointers in two of their last three games. The Nuggets had a night to forget from 3 in their last outing against the Clippers, shooting 4-for-33 from deep, so expect a better performance tonight as they look to continue to stay hot from beyond the arc.

The Nuggets have started off games well against the Clippers this season, leading by 9 points and 13 points at half in their first two matchups. With Luke Kennard, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard absent, they will rely heavily on Reggie Jackson and Marcus Morris to step up their offensive production. Denver ranks second in effective field goal percentage over the last 10 games compared to the Clippers who rank 24th. The Nuggets are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games, with an averaging margin of 9.3 points. The Clippers are 4-6 against the spread in their last 10 ,with an average margin of negative-6.8 points.

Denver is in a bounce-back spot at home after a loss to the Jazz. It has not forgotten the 25-point lead they blew in their last matchup with the Clippers, which should give them some added motivation heading into Wednesday. The Clippers were able to put over 130 on Indiana in their last game, but do not expect a repeat performance against a Nuggets defense that is allowing 105.9 points per game. This is a crucial spot for the Nuggets to come out victorious and stay in the playoff hunt in the Western Conference. Lay the points with the Nuggets in the first half on Wednesday.

Best Bet for Tonight’s Game: Denver Nuggets First Half -4.5 Points
