The Rams are coming off a dominant performance against the team with no name, defeating Washington by 20 points. The defensive front really had their way in the game, with the Rams totaling eight sacks on the day. Still, the offense had a positive showing against a Washington defense that should be respected. Los Angeles passed for 309 yards, adding another 129 on the ground.
The 49ers, on the other hand, got to see Ryan Fitzpatrick in the flesh. They got ran out of their own building, losing the game 43-17. Following two interceptions, the 49ers benched Jimmy Garoppolo, trying to keep him out of harm’s way while also stopping the bleeding.
The larger takeaway was how bad the 49ers defense was, following all of the injuries they have suffered this season. Essentially, they are now a Cover 3 team with no pass rush, which is bad news — just ask Seattle and Atlanta. They allowed Fitzpatrick to complete 22 of 28 passes for 350 yards and three touchdowns. If they are unable to get a pass rush consistently on Sunday night, we could see Jared Goff pass all over this depleted defensive unit.
