Uncertainty breeds opportunity, and we have uncertainty in spades surrounding this evening’s Monday Night Football matchup between the Seahawks (7-3) and the hosting Eagles (3-6-1). The unknown I’m referring to revolves around reports all week that rookie Jalen Hurts is taking snaps in more than just a gadget capacity. Word from multiple sources (unfortunately one being the hit-and-miss Ian Rapoport) is he’ll be coming out for more than just a play or two at a time and perhaps taking on consecutive snaps with “franchise” quarterback Carson Wentz off the field.
Now, coach speak needs to be taken exactly for what it is: Coach speak. NFL coaches lie all the time. They aren’t required to give away important game plans by any means, so you’d have to be a bit of a dolt to say “we’re doing exactly x and y” when football is a game predicated on unpredictability. And yet, quarterback decisions carry more weight in the media than any other position on the field. Eagles reporters obsessively reveal every detail of every snap at every practice for quarterbacks in a way they don’t for any other skill player.
So at the very least in this situation, we’ve got some discord between head coach Doug Pederson and the obvious poor string of play from Wentz. He’s coming off a three-game stretch where he’s averaged only 188.7 passing yards per game, has failed to eclipse 235 yards passing once and has as many touchdown passes as interceptions (four). That means the under on his 249.5 passing yards prop is in play regardless of any timeshare possibilities between Wentz and Hurts, although the Seahawks rank dead last in the NFL, surrendering 355.1 yards per game through the air. Place one unit on the under.
NFL Prop Bet No. 2: Chris Carson OVER 2.5 Receptions

For the longest time, I thought I was a proud member of Team Running Backs Don’t Matter. But in recent weeks, I’ve started to see the error of my ways. More specifically, I’ve realized if you’re a 6-foot, 225-pound power back with agility and newfound passing game acumen, you matter.
That’s exactly what the Seahawks get back tonight in Chris Carson, who hasn’t suited up since Week 7 due to a severe foot sprain. Before his injury, Russell Wilson was the runaway MVP favorite. And while I’m not saying it’s Carson absence alone that led to a bumpy midseason road for the Seahawks, it certainly didn’t help to be without the multi-dimensional back. Expect Carson to pick up where he left off tonight, specifically in the passing game where he has caught at least three balls in every appearance besides his early Week 7 exit with injury. There’s heavier juice than I’d like at -143 at DraftKings and SugarHouse, but the 2.5 number more than makes up for it.
