NBA Picks and Predictions Based on NBA Odds Shopping | Thunder vs Rockets | Sept. 2

Oklahoma City Thunder (44-28) vs. Houston Rockets (44-28)
Date: Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020
Time: 9 p.m. ET
Venue: ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex – Kissimmee, FL
Coverage: ESPN

The Thunder pulled together and managed to pull out the Game 6 win, forcing a Game 7 in this competitive series. It’s clear that when the stakes are high, Chris Paul is the man for Oklahoma City. He finished last game with 28 points, scoring 15 of them in the fourth quarter.

Aside from the great play from their veteran leader, the Thunder won the game because of their size, which has been the obvious weakness for Houston. Oklahoma City grabbed 10 offensive rebounds, compared to four for Houston. Steven Adams alone grabbed nine of them. This, combined with their +3 turnover differential, was the deciding factor last game.

Houston shot all right overall, so that wasn’t the reason for the loss. As stated before, they simply gave the Thunder too many extra possessions. On top of that, the Rockets attempted just 12 free throws in the game, with eight coming from James Harden. Houston needs to limit the dominance of the Thunder in the paint to win this game, whether that be fighting for rebounds or drawing fouls inside.

Thunder vs. Rockets NBA Picks + Prop Bets

Chris Paul – Points: Over 22.5 (+104)

When the Thunder’s backs were up against the wall (Games 3, 4 and 6), Paul showed up and stepped up his aggressiveness on offense. In these three high-stakes games, Paul has attempted an average of 19.7 shots and scored 26.7 points. Look for him to be aggressive yet again, hoping to change the narrative about his postseason success, or lack thereof.

Chris Paul – Made 3’s: Over 1.5 (-180)

Along with being aggressive offensively and scoring over 22.5 points, Paul should make multiple 3-point shots today. He made three last game and has buried multiple from long range in four of the six games this series. Paul also hit multiple 3-point shots in the three regular season meetings with Houston.

Russell Westbrook – Rebounds: Over 5.5 (-130)

While I have my doubts about Westbrook overall today, he should hit the over on this rebound total. He will reportedly be limited for minutes again today, but Awesemo has him projected for 30.25, which would be a slight increase from last game. The guard has averaged 0.22 rebounds per minute against the Thunder this season. Extrapolated over his 30.25 minute projection would be 6.7 rebounds. He should grab at least six boards today.

James Harden – Made 3’s: Over 0.5 (-3335)

Here’s your no-brainer, free money prop bet of the day, offered by DraftKings. Obviously, James Harden is going to make at least one shot from deep. He attempted 11 last game. The NBA odds are not lucrative for it, but free money is free money.
