NFL Best Bets & Odds: Week 13 Thursday Night Football

Dallas Cowboys vs. New Orleans Saints
Date: Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021
Time: 8:20 p.m. EST
Venue: Caesars Superdome — New Orleans, La.
Coverage: FOX/NFL Network

The Cowboys are in an interesting position tonight, coming into this game without head coach Mike McCarthy, who is out with COVID. In his place, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will serve as the head coach. He has struggled in the past to be both the head coach and defensive play caller. In fact, many of these struggles were against these Saints. The good news for the Cowboys is they are expected to have all three of their wide receivers back on the field together. Given this is arguably the most talented receiving trio in the NFL, it should help their offense out a lot.

After sitting pretty at 5-2, the Saints have lost four games in a row. Something needs to change, and a big change is expected to take place. While the switch has not been confirmed, Taysom Hill has practiced as the starting quarterback for New Orleans this week. Given the lack of playmakers at receiver, it makes sense to switch to a mobile quarterback that allows the ground game to expand.

Cowboys vs. Saints NFL Best Bet

We are using the new Awesemo NFL Betting Model to figure out what the best bet for Thursday Night Football is tonight. According to the model, betting the game total under 47.5 is the best bet to place, giving it an 8% ROI. This makes plenty of sense considering who is at quarterback for the Saints. If Hill gets the start, as many assume, then New Orleans will take a run-heavy approach tonight. They will look to dominate the time of possession, going on long scoring drives. This limits the number of drives in the game and the opportunity for the Cowboys to score, pointing to a low-scoring game.
