Charlotte (37-35) has been playing some inspired basketball recently. The Hornets have won five straight and seven of nine. As a result of this stellar play, they hold a one-game lead over the Hawks for ninth place in the Eastern Conference and are just one game behind the eighth-seeded Nets and two games behind the seventh-place Raptors.

Charlotte has continued to thrive on the offensive end in the second half, particularly over the last five games.  The Hornets have been cooking on that end, posting an 59.6% effective field goal percentage since March 1. Miles Bridges, Terry Rozier and LaMelo Ball have all put up at least 19 points and shot over 47% from the floor during this span.

New York had a perfect chance to steal a victory last night against an Atlanta team that had lost eight straight on the road. But the Knicks allowed the Hawks to shoot nearly 50% from the field and over 41% from beyond the arc. The Hawks backcourt torched them for 91 points. Now they have to face the Hornets’ dangerous backcourt likely without Julius Randle (quadricep) for the second straight game. The Knicks are playing their fifth game in eight games, and they are 0-3 in games without Randle. Moreover, Charlotte has defeated the Knicks in both of their earlier matchups.

The point spread has increased a full point since the morning line.
