Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards Under 231.5 Points

The point total seems too high, particularly with the Nets being without Kevin Durant and Nicolas Claxton. Durant and Claxton are the Nets’ most efficient offensive players. Durant had been fabulous on the road this year, tallying 31 points per game. Brooklyn averages 110.5 points in the seven games without Durant this year, though that number drops to just 106 when not including games against the Lakers and Clippers during the Christmas holiday. Additionally, the Nets have been much better defensively following a day off.

Meanwhile, the Wizards are not the most efficient offensive team in the NBA, and they have been even less efficient with Bradley Beal in the lineup. While Washington has been better on the offensive end at home, the Wizards average slightly less than 110 points and permit around 109 points following a day of rest. Moreover, the Nets and Wizards combined for just 194 points in an earlier meeting,

Sacramento Kings Spread (-5.5)
Detroit Pistons Under 108 Points

The Kings are not in great form, and they will be without Tyrese Haliburton (health and safety). However, Sacramento has won two of three, and the Kings have played relatively well at home. The Kings ran over the Pistons (129-107) earlier this season and are 11-7 against teams with a sub-.500 record. Plus, the Kings have won each of their three games following two off days, as they average slightly over 114 points. They have outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points in those three games.

Detroit is coming off a 102-86 setback to Golden State last night, marking their third loss in the last four games, all three on the road and by double digits. The Pistons have lost four straight away from home, where they are 3-19 with a minus-14.5 scoring margin. Moreover, Detroit has yet to beat a Pacific Division team in eight games and are 2-5 in the second of back-to-back games, as they average less than 97 points a game in those contests.

Los Angeles Lakers Moneyline (-210) Over Indiana Pacers

The Lakers are essentially in desperation mode. While Los Angeles is not in danger of falling out of the top 10 in the Western Conference, the Lakers are likely playing for coach Frank Vogel’s job and possibly general manager Rob Pelinka’s as well. The Lakers must play better on the defensive end. Monday night’s effort was a nice start, as they held the NBA’s No. 1 offensive team (Utah) to 36.9% shooting from the field and 26.1% from beyond the arc. However, they will need to do that on a consistent basis. Los Angeles got the perfect opponent in Indiana to build off their Utah victory, with the Pacers entering the game reeling. Indiana has lost four in a row, with their last three being by double figures. The Pacers struggle shooting the ball and with turnovers away from home. Plus, they will not have Myles Turner, while Malcolm Brogdon and Jeremy Lamb are questionable.

Joel Embiid Under 28.5 Points

Embiid continues his terrific play. However, the prop is a touch too high considering that he has not played as well at home or against the Magic this year. In two games against Orlando, Embiid has put up 23.5 points, nine rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.5 turnovers while shooting just 42.1% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc. He is projected for 24.53 points tonight. OddsShopper under has a 68% chance of hitting and an expected ROI of 31%.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Under 29.5 Points

Like Embiid, Antetokounmpo has been playing his best offensive basketball of the season lately. Antetokounmpo has scored at least 26 points in each of his last 10 appearances and produced six double-doubles and two triple-doubles. He averaged 31.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and seven assists while shooting 54.7% from the field and 30.6% from beyond the arc during this stretch.

However, Memphis has been terrific defensively during the past 15 games, where they posted a 12-3 record. The Grizzlies have posted the fourth-best defensive rating and seventh-best effective field goal percentage allowed (50.5%) during this stretch. Moreover, the Grizzlies allow the ninth-fewest points to opposing power forwards, and they have been a little a little stingier lately, giving up just 18.4 points on 38% shooting from the field and 26.1% from beyond the arc. Antetokounmpo is projected for 26 points tonight. OddsShopper gives the under a 66% chance of hitting and an expected ROI of 29%.
