Jalen Brunson Over 20.5 Points

It appears that Brunson will be once again called upon to carry the Mavericks offense, as Kristaps Porzingis (health and safety) is expected to miss the game against the Rockets, and Luka Doncic (ankle) is doubtful. Brunson is having a career year, and he has been terrific when Doncic has had to miss time. In a nine-game stretch where Doncic most recently missed (Dec. 15 through 29), Brunson scored at least 20 points on five occasions and doled out six or more assist in each. Overall, he averages 19.8 points, 6.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 48.3% from the field and 35.3% from the 3-point line as a starter.

Brunson has a sweet matchup and is projected for 23.72 points tonight. On Monday Philadelphia’s Furkan Korkmaz put up 24 points against Houston, and Bradley Beal went for 27 on Wednesday. Opposing point guards have averaged 28.2 points on 49.3% shooting from the field and 46.3% from the 3-point line, along with 8.2 rebounds and 9. 2 assists against them over the last five games. OddsShopper gives the over a 66% chance of hitting and an expected ROI of 25%.

Toronto Raptors Point Spread (-11.5) Over Utah Jazz & Under 222

This bet has a lot more to do with the health of the Jazz than the Raptors. The Raptors are playing well (18-17), winning four straight — and a win tonight will tie their season-long mark — with an average margin of victory over 13 points. Not surprisingly, the Raptors win streak has coincided with the return of O.G. Anunoby. Toronto is 12-8 with Anunoby in the lineup. Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam have also played exceptionally well during this stretch.

Meanwhile, Utah (28-10) will enter the game possibly without its entire starting five, with Mike Conley (knee), Donovan Mitchell (back), Bojan Bogdanovic (finger) and Rudy Gobert (health and safety) having already been ruled out. Joe Ingles (health and safety) also has been ruled out, while Royce O’Neale (tendonitis), Jordan Clarkson (back) and Hassan Whiteside (concussion) are questionable. Rookie Jared Butler is expected to start at point guard for the first time tonight, and the Jazz will be without their top nine scorers if none of the players on the injury list play. OddsShopper gives the under a 59% chance of hitting and an expected ROI of 13%.

Brooklyn Nets Moneyline (-190) over Milwaukee Bucks & Under 232 Points

On Wednesday Brooklyn snapped a three-game losing streak with a 129-121 victory over Indiana, as Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving combined for 79 points. But the Nets will not have Irving, as he is ineligible to play at home, and they average less than 108 points at the Barclays Center. Brooklyn is also better defensively at home, where the Nets are holding their opponents to 43.5% shooting, including 32.4% from beyond the arc. Moreover, Durant has been on a tear of late, and he put up 32 points against the Buck in the season opener.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee has lost two straight. The Bucks have allowed opposing teams to record an effective field goal percentage of 54.1% over the last five games, and they have been average at best on that end of the floor away from home this year. Also, Milwaukee will be without most of its backcourt tonight, with Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton, Donte DiVincenzo, George Hill and Jrue Holiday having already been ruled out. Giannis Antetokounmpo (illness) is considered probable. OddsShopper gives the Nets a 64% chance of winning. The under has a 55% chance of hitting and an expected ROI of 5%.

Jusuf Nurkic Under 16.5 Points

Consistency continues to plague Nurkic. Nurkic has scored in double figures in 12 of his last 14 games, but he averages just 14.7 points on 53.3% shooting from the field and 10 rebounds over his previous seven appearances. He is projected for 14.82 points in a tough matchup against Cleveland. The Cavaliers give up the fewest points to opposing centers in the league. Nurkic totaled 6 points, nine rebounds and two assists in the first meeting against the Cavaliers. Portland will be without Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum and Larry Nance Jr. tonight. OddsShopper gives the under a 63% chance of hitting and an expected ROI of 26%.
