Bulls Spread (-4.5) Over Warriors

Chicago has far exceeded expectations in the early going, and they have not played the easiest schedule. The Bulls have another chance to make a case as a true title team tonight as they host the struggling Warriors. Chicago has been playing exceptionally well of late, going 9-2 over the last 11 games, and they have been terrific on the offensive end. Over this stretch, The Bulls have recorded league-bests in offensive rating (119.2) and effective field goal percentage (58.4%). Not surprisingly, Zach Lavine and DeMar DeRozan have led the way during this stretch, combining for 49.5 points, nearly nine rebounds and 10 assists a game. Nikola Vucevic has continued to score and rebound the ball well, while Coby White has been tremendous since coming off the injured list before Christmas.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are in a funk. Golden State has lost four of its last five games, including getting plastered by Milwaukee 118-99 last night as their shooting and turnover struggles continued. All four of those losses have come on the road and been by at least 5 points. Draymond Green, Gary Payton II and Klay Thompson have already been ruled out for this game.

Cavaliers Moneyline (-160) Over Spurs

Cleveland already has its most wins in the past four years, and they look like they are on the verge of making the playoffs for the first time since losing in the 2018 Finals. The Cavaliers have played well all season away from home, where they have won three of four during their current six-game road trip. The key for the Cavs all season has been getting contributions from everyone and playing solid defense, and that has continued during the recent road swing. Eight players are averaging double figures during this four-game stretch, including Lauri Markkanen and Lamar Stevens. Stevens has significantly increased his production recently and averages 13 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 63.9% from the field over the last four games. Defensively they are a top-five team, and they have limited their opponents to an effective field goal percentage of 48.5% during the current trip.

Conversely, San Antonio is not in good form and has lost four straight, with a 128-124 setback at home on Tuesday being the latest. The Spurs’ biggest problem offensively is that they do not shoot it well from beyond the arc or get to the foul line nearly enough. Meanwhile, their most significant issues defensively are protecting the paint and defensive rebounding. Both could be an issue against a bigger Cavaliers frontcourt. On a positive note, the Spurs may get Derrick White (questionable) back from the health and safety list.

Joel Embiid Under 29.5 Points

Embiid has been utterly dominant over the last month, and as a result he is back in the MVP conversation. He has posted six double-doubles and a triple-double in his last 11 games while scoring at least 30 points in 10 of those contests. This includes tallying 41 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four blocks against the Celtics in Boston on Dec. 20. However, Embiid is averaging less than 25 points a game at Wells Fargo Arena, as he has struggled shooting at home. Plus, the Celtics have done a phenomenal job against opposing centers most of the season. Boston allows the second-fewest points in the league to opposing center as they are holding them to less than 50% shooting from the field. Embiid is projected for 25.42 points tonight. OddsShopper gives the under a 69% chance of hitting and an expected ROI of 37%
