How to Bet UFC 270: Ngannou vs. Gane | Expert UFC Betting Picks & Predictions 1/22/2022

The UFC heads to Anaheim, Calif., this week for UFC 270 headlined by possibly the greatest heavyweight championship fight of all time in Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane. A couple of fights fell off the card right before weigh-ins, most likely due to weight cutting issues. On top of that, there are eight fighters making their UFC debuts tonight, which makes the UFC betting scene a tad more difficult, but there are a couple of really good spots bettors can hammer. As always, when shopping for the best UFC betting odds and lines, make sure to use OddsShopper to find the top odds at various sportsbooks. It is easily the best tool when it comes to shopping for the top ROI odds for the fights, and it will save bettors a lot of money in the long run. Below are my UFC picks for tonight when filling out your betting card. Let’s dig into some of the best UFC betting picks and predictions for this amazing card for UFC 270: Ngannou vs. Gane.

UFC Betting Picks & Predictions: UFC 270 Ngannou vs Gane

Francis Ngannou vs. Ciryl Gane

In arguably the best heavyweight fight of all time, Interim Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane will take on Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou and the winner will become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. It is astounding that anyone can have a strong lean on this fight because heavyweight fights generally have high variance and this is the highest skilled heavyweight of all time anything can happen. That being said, the one thing bettors can be confident in is if Ngannou wins, it will more likely than not come via knockout. Ngannou has insane power and can knock anyone out with one punch and it is his most likely path to victory here with Gane being such a more technical fighter. Gane is an incredible fighter as well, and Vegas agrees, making him the favorite in this bout. If Gane can stay to the outside and use his movement and footwork, similar to the game plan he deployed against Alexander Volkov, he has a legitimate shot at winning a decision. The worry is that Gane is going to try to clinch and possibly try to take Ngannou down but honestly Ngannou may be the better wrestler here and if Gane closes the distance it will put him in massive danger. Gane can be as technical as he wants but there is not one single athlete in the UFC that can survive a clean power shot from Ngannou and since he is an underdog this week his KO prop is +165. Bettors may never get a better line on a Ngannou knockout ever again if he knocks out Gane, which is another reason this is the bet.

Best Bet: Ngannou by KO +165 (DraftKings Sportsbook)

Cody Stamann vs. Said Nurmagomedov

In a clash of bantamweights, Cody Stamann will take on Russia’s Said Nurmagomedov. Despite the last name Nurmagomedov is not related to Khabib Nurmagomedov, and he fights nothing like him either. Nurmagomedov is a fairly balanced fighter, good everywhere, but not great anywhere and he generally likes to use his kickboxing. Stamann is a wrestler by trade with decent striking, especially at 135 because when he fights at 145 he is very undersized. Stamann is a durable fighter never being finished by strikes. He does have one submission loss on his record to current Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling. Stamann has lost three of his last four fights but one can argue that, Song Yadong, Jimmie Rivera, and Merab Dvalishvili are all better fighters than Said Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov won his last fight by first round knockout over Mark Striegl but Stamann is a big step up in competition. It is certainly possible that Stamann will struggle to close the distance and not be able to get Nurmagomedov down, which is why he is lined as a +166 underdog. The problem for Nurmagomedov is that sometimes he falls in love with spinning attacks and one thing wrestlers love is spinning attacks because it is easier to get their opponents down. Stamann is clearly the superior wrestler here, he is not super great at controlling his opponents but over the course of three rounds if he can land one or two takedowns in two of the rounds he can win a decision here. It is always worth a bet on a wrestler who is durable against a fighter like Nurmagomedov who may have issues with Stamann’s wrestling.

Best Bet: Cody Stamann +166 (FanDuel Sportsbook)
