The Dolphins come into this game winless, but their schedule to start the season has not been easy. They opened the year with the New England Patriots then played the Buffalo Bills tough last week. They appear to be better than what their record shows, and they could really silence Gardner Minshew in prime time. However, if this defense is without cornerback Byron Jones, who they paid a pretty penny for this offseason, it will be tough to slow down the talented receiving corps of Jacksonville. As of writing, Jones has not participated in practices.
Everyone assumed the Jaguars were tanking this season, so an upset win in Week 1 shocked the world. They nearly pulled off another upset against the Tennessee Titans last week, but they came up just short. In two weeks, it is clear that the play of Minshew last season was no fluke. He has been terrific in 2020, giving this entire offense an energy that lifts up everyone’s play.
The Jaguars defense, however, is poor. The secondary is week, and it is only made worse by the lack of a pass rush. This was very evident last week when they sacked Ryan Tannehill just once while giving up four touchdowns through the air.
It’s Ryan Fitzpatrick versus Minshew. The player to win this quarterback duel will likely lead their team to victory. We could see a lot of points scored on Thursday night.
