NFL Odds Shopping + NFL Picks: Sunday Night Football Rams vs 49ers
Rams -2.5 (FanDuel)
While the 49ers will hold home field advantage, the Los Angeles Rams possess a number of other advantages in this contest. Looking at the 49ers roster, multiple starters remain on injured reserve. Between Richard Sherman, K’Waun Williams, Nick Bosa, Dee Ford and a few others, this defense remains a shell of the unit that took the 49ers to the Super Bowl. Conversely, the Rams enter this contest at near full health.
As for the matchup itself, the Rams remain one of the most efficient offenses in football. The Rams currently rank first overall in yards per pass attempt (8.7). While the Rams pass at the second-lowest rate in football, the heavy run volume comes more from positive game script. Last week, the 49ers coughed up 350 yards and three scores to Ryan Fitzpatrick as he completed 79% of his passes. With the 49ers already benching starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo last week, taking the Rams at -2.5 points looks like the top bet ahead of Sunday Night Football.
Deebo Samuel – Over 40.5 Receiving Yards (BetMGM)
One of the biggest mismatches between the Awesemo projections and the listed prop, Samuel looks like a strong bet to eclipse 40.5 receiving yards. Awesemo’s projections currently slate Samuel for 57 yards as his role continues to grow in San Francisco’s offense. Playing in just his second game of the year last week, Samuel already saw his target counts jump from two to eight.
Digging deeper, Samuel’s role within the 49ers’ offense also increased. Samuel played on 89% of the offensive snaps and ran a route on 71% of the 49ers’ drop backs. He also tied George Kittle for a team-leading eight targets in last week’s game. The Rams play strong pass defense and only allow 5.5 yards per pass attempt. However, volume remains supreme, and Samuel projects to see it with San Francisco pegged as 2.5-point underdogs. One of the top mismatches in the game, Samuel over 40.5 receiving yards looks like a strong bet ahead of Sunday Night Football.
